Friendly Atmosphere

Enjoyed wine tasting at VaVino - super place. Love to dine at The Blue Light - food is wonderful. After the movies a night cap at The Downtown Grill is fun. Most all eateries have outside tables - great place to be!

The hotel is in a great location to shops, resturants, movie theaters, ice rink, wine tasting, art galleries, Charlottesville Pavilion - everything is within walking distance. The hotel is very clean, rooms are spacious, staff is friendly - highly recommend for family outings or for couples just looking for a weekend away.

Close to great night life

Lots of dining choices are just a stroll down the mall. There was also theatre nearby that apparently hosts a variety of performances so check the local entertainment listing to snare tickets before you go.

We enjoyed a week-end get-away at a quiet Omni hotel on the edge of the Charlottesville downtown mall, a great walking area for night life and dining possibilities. Although the bath was small, the room was well appointed and we enjoyed the linens, bed, and view. Would have liked a newspaper but there was a news vendor very close by. Free parking in the connected deck was convenient and simple.

Be certain to walk the Downtown Mall

The Omni is modern, well appointed and businessperson-friendly. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. the staff is polite and competent. The University of Virginia is nearby, and the hotel opens directly onto the Charlottesville Downtown Mall, a traffic-free area of shops, bars, restaurants, live theaters and movie houses. I highly recommend this facility to anyone visiting western Virginia for business, pleasure or a UVA event.

There is a broad range of dining possibilities steps away from the hotel.

The Omni in Charlottesville boasts a four-star rating, but I have stayed in other hotels in the immediate area that had only two stars attributed to them and found them easily the equal of the Omni, and in some cases nicer. The only thing the hotel truly has going for it is the location. Being located right on the pedestrian mall is very convienient, but that's where the edge over other hotels end. I arrived at 4:00 pm and found cleaning staff still in my room, who asked me to go and wait until they were finished. More extraordinary, I found them knocking on my door at 8:00 the next morning, a Sunday, by the way. As I was ready to shower I found that I had not packed a comb, and since so many hotels make a point to tell you to call the desk if you have forgotten any personal items, I went to see if they had a comb for purchase. After some looking through drawers and cabinets it was decided they had none and I had to go to the drug store to purchase one on my own. High speed internet was availiable for a minute by minute fee, and even local phone calls were over priced. I now refer my friends to the Courtyard by Marriott or the Hampton Inn for a pleasant hotel experience at a reasonable price.

If business takes you to Charlottesville, the Omni is the perfect place to stay. Convenient location, wireless internet in rooms, covered parking and courteous staff. All told, a great place to stay.
