Bring 1 dollar bills for the fare machines. Anything larger, you'll get a pocket full of change for the difference. .This is not the Taj Mahal. I knew that going in. The motel is a budget motel with the ususal ammenities associated with one (ice machine, vending machines, free shampoo, soap, and coffee in the room, cable, etc.) But they do offer free drinks (juice, coffee, and a variety of teas) and newspapers in the morning. And, the thing I liked, many brochures to many of the attractions in the area. It is right of I-395 and an easy drive into Washington or a trip South to places like Mt. Vernon. Surprising, being so close to the interstate, it is very quiet in the room. There are also plenty of places to shop ( a mall just across the Interstate), a discount grocery store across the street to buy beer or soft drinks resonably, a McDonalds, Arby's, I-Hop, and other eateries within a mile. The staff was the star of the trip. They offered advice that really helped me out. The front desk personnel were beyond outstanding. I really felt comfortable there. If your not into fancy pools, restaurants, or chocolates on the pillow, this is the place to be. I needed a nice room to stay in as a launch pad for visting the area. This was a very pleasant experience. Score 1 out of 5 Hotel "Terrible" (Days Inn, Alexandria, VA) Helene, Seattle, WA, 2006-06-29 Shoping Mall.My wife and I arrived well after midnight due to the area bad weather(rain, floods). We were exhausted after the three hour drive from BWI to the motel. We opened the door to find a stinky room, absolutely filthy carpet, with very suspicous spots on the walls at the bedside and toilet. As we were so exhausted, we decided to stay and just lay towels on the floor leading into the bathroom and took the sheet off the second bed and "double sheeted" the blanket on our bed and threw the dirty bed spread into the corner. The next morning I reported the room's condition and was promised it would be taken care of. . .and, upon our return that evening, the floor had been "spot cleaned" and "most" of the crap on the walls removed, not all!! As we were ensconced in the room, we decided to stay. My wife still put towels on the floor to walk on. Score 1 out of 5 horrible rafael, 2006-06-25 IHOP was a walking distance. It was my worst experience from all times, I never been in a hotel in which the recepcionist was as unprofesional as this. He did not even told me which direction was my room or if the hotel had any amenities, or anything at all, his personal apperance was neither profesional whatsoever, yes I arrived at midnight, but that it not an excuse for the personnel of the hotel, specially at the reception to be with the shirt untuck and open like if he was at the beach. The room did not have a microwave, neither a small refrigerator, the paint was peeling of the wall in the batroom, the tub faucett was leaking and broken. There where insects inside, the air conditioner was noisy and weak my wife wanted to go to a different hotel but we already had paid . Score 3 out of 5 You get what you pay for. catherine, 2006-05-16 All the wonderful attractions of DC are just a short drive away! The hotel is the cheapest in the area, so you can't expect luxury. However, the room seemed clean and it was a bed and shower . I wasn't disappointed with the room and the area wasn't bad. The location is right off of 395, so it's very convienient. If you need a cheap place for a night or two, this will due!
