Looks brand new, just beautiful

The Stonewall Jackson is right next door to the Blackfriars Theatre, an exquisite reproduction from Shakespeare's time, and home of the renowned American Shakespeare Center/Shenandoah Shakespeare Express.

This hotel was renovated two years ago, and still looks brand spanking new. The lobby is one of the prettiest I've ever seen, with 20 foot ceilings and pale yellow walls. The room was comfortable and well laid out. Loved curved shower rod that gives you a little extra room. The food was above average and the service was warm and personal. I may as well make my reservation for March 2008, as I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

The Stonewall Jackson Hotel was much more than I expected. The recent renovation has made it a very confortable, convenient, and friendly hotel. From the large rooms with soft beds to the friendly staff; from the enormous entrance hall to the new decorations everywhere, from the downtown location to the short walk to the Black Friars Club Shakesperian playhouse the hotel and convention center provided the best to the guest. I want to go there again and would recommend it to all my friends.

Several very attractive gift shops only a couple of block away

Beautifully renovated 1924 hotel. Conventiently located to downtown and next door to the Shakespearian Theater. It was very quiet. Only disappointment was that the dining room is only open on Fri. & Sat. nites for dinner. It was open for brkft. everyday. There are other restaurants close by, and Mary Baldwin College. There is an atached parking garage. You have to park your own car but the parking is free and there is an elevator into the hotel. I found this very convenient as I had to go and come several times a day. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful Hotel, Needs to Improve Service and Value Returned

The American Shakespeare Center, next door to the hotel, is outstanding, both the facility (only recreation of the Blackfriar's theater in London in the world) and the quality of the professional productions presented.

The Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Conference Center rooms were a bit on the small side but were very comfortable, well-furnished, and included high speed Internet, both wired and wireless. The bathrooms were up-to-date and efficient. For the price, the buffet breakfast was disappointing and we were annoyed by the housekeeping services, including a VERY late-day make-up of our room and that room service trays placed in the hallway by other guests seemed to never get removed. We also found the drinks to be quite expensive in the Lounge. Overall, it was very nice stay and a very nice facility, but I doubt I would return when I consider the cost/benefit view.

Delightful and luxurious

The Stonewall Jackson Hotel is brand new and beautifully decorated with high ceilings and beautiful colors. The mattresses are so wonderful you want to stay in bed all day. This hotel is right next door to the Blackfriar's theater, which was where we were headed, so it couldn't have been more convenient. A great value for the money. My daughter loved the pool!
