Most recent user reviewsScore 2 out of 5 Nice lobby, but... Anonymous, Sacramento, CA, 2006-11-12 There's a shopping center across the street, grocery, shops, video, everything. The lobby was nice, but the room we were in was not very nice. It was old, the place smelled of old carpeting, the kitchen had bad knives and utinsels. A tea kettle would have been useful, as well as a fireplace. The pools weren't great, either. The breakfast was alright, except that every breakfast needs scrambled eggs and bacon. The crib we had squeaked like crazy every time our baby shifted in his sleep, causing him to wake up. Score 2 out of 5 Review Ronald, 2006-10-14 Lake Tahoes Casinos are a 5 minute walk. Our stay the the Forest Lodge was very disappointing. Well the motel style rooms were built 48 years ago and look like they still might have the original carpet and furnishings. Our biggest problem we had was we were told we would have a rollaway bed delivered to our room for our guest, 3 phone calls to the front desk and they still never delivered, finally at 10pm. they told us it was a fire hazard to have a rollaway in our room, so to fix their oversight, we had to move out of our room, accross the property to a larger old room that smelled of smoke and cleaning supplies. I will never stay at the Forest Lodge again. The experience was very disappointing, expecially because it was my wifes and my 7th. year anniversary. Sorry, but remodeling is always an option. Score 2 out of 5 No Air In Our Room - Only Fans For The Summer! John, 2006-08-27 This is the only thing that was good, you could walk to the store, restaurants and the casinos. The Forest Suites Resort in South Lake Tahoe, CA is good if your going up during the winter. It's decor is very ski related and the carpet in the unit show it. There are a couple of very old pools and the hot tub might as well been a tub in my bathroom,(Very 60's & 70's). Our stay was OK but givin the no A/C in the room/place we won't be going back any time in the summer.. The bathroom needs to be cleaned or remodeled or remove the mold in the shower tiles. Also the parking for the unit we were in is very limited. There are 7 parking spaces and over 13 units using them. The stove is very old and electric so don't think your going to pull off a gormet meal. I would like to add that not all of the burners on the stove worked and the toaster didn't even taost the bread that we had on high, it burnt one side and left the other raw. P.S. All the rooms are non smoking:( Score 2 out of 5 Review Anonymous, Atlanta, GA, 2006-07-26 Forest Suites Resort is highly overpriced for the amenities available. It was in the 90's while I was there July 24 to 25. At check in I had been upgraded to a suite, however, there was no air and the suite was an oven when I opened the door at 1:30 a.m. on Mon, July 24th. I suffered through the rest of the early a.m. and transferred to a king room with air at noon on Monday. I was there for my son's wedding which was in a small chapel on the property. Again, no air conditioning in the lobby or chapel. I understand that we had an unusual hot spell, but one would think in this day and age air conditioning would be mandatory. I needed a pair of scissors to wrap the wedding gift and the front desk could only provide a razor blade! Amazing!!! Never again. Score 4 out of 5 Huge rooms Sylvia, Boston, MA, 2006-02-20 The hotel had huge rooms, like a mini condo. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was a nice assortment of goodies and all you can eat. Great way to start you ski day. The hotel needs some updating, although it looks as though they have been updating the decorating a bit. The location is convenient to everything too. Score 4 out of 5 Convenient to ski gondola Anonymous, Knoxville, TN, 2005-12-25 If you want to ski or snowboard at Heavenly, this is a good choice. Shuttles are also available to other nearby ski destinations. The best feature of the Forest Suites Resort is that it is within walking distance of the gondola to the Heavenly ski area. Parking is included and covered from weather, and a continental breakfast is also included in the room cost. No dining is available at the Resort. Our room was a little drafty near the sliding glass doors, but the heat worked well. The furniture was a bit worn, the kitchen somewhat less than fully stocked with equipment for cooking, and the bathroom had some previous water damage, but the carpet was new, and the beds were solid and comfortable. The room maintenance was done daily, and everything except the vacuuming seemed to be done fairly thoroughly and well. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Shopping, restaurants, and groceries are also within walking distance, and the property can be reached by a shuttle from the Reno airport if you don't have a car. Though the literature claimed outdoor heated pools, they were not functioning. An outdoor hot tub was. There was also a small exercise equipment room. Very family friendly. Score 3 out of 5 Close to Gondola marjorie, 2005-10-23 Hotel is very close to the gondola - maybe 100 feet - the gondola cars pass directly over the hotel. Large shopping strip mall across side street of hotel - within walking distance. Harrah's casino is one block away - also walking distance.Hotel is attractive and is in a great location -near shops and gondola. Individual rooms open onto outside balconies which are being redone. Rooms are ok but carpet looks like it has seen a few skiing seasons. It must be hard to keep carpet looking new with so much foot traffic. The mattress was a little old - could feel a few springs. The hotel lobby was attractive and the check in people were nice and very helpful. Free breakfast was ok - very good coffee. Score 3 out of 5 Great Tahoe Location Tim, Fresno, CA, 2005-10-19 Casino's and shoppingThe Forrest End was in a great loction. The pool and spa were nice. There was no dining at the hotel and they needed to do some maint work i.e the shower leaked. Check in was easy and parking was good. The rooms were very large. Score 2 out of 5 North Forty Kenneth, Los Angeles, CA, 2005-09-25 Casinos were close, and the gondola was a great way to spend the day. great views. The part we stayed in was in the very back, and it was very old, the second floor deck was buckling, and every time someone shut their door you could feel the building shake, not pleasent at two in the morning, also the bathroom exhaust fan sounded like a lawn mower when turned on, not a pleasent sound when your trying to not disturb your partner. Score 2 out of 5 Very Friendly Staff Mike, 2005-07-22 We had a great time in South Lake Tahoe and were greeted nicely, the only proplem we had was the air conditioning unit was very loud and did not work it only made noise. After a few hours a listening to it we requested another room. The staff was nice but the room was a little run down which did not meet my expectation of this resort. |
