Tricky getting on off old 90.This hotel was as close as you can get to Lackland Airforce base. The room was in disrepair. The bathroom door was off the hinge. Paint was pealiing all over. The size was good and having the kitchenette was helpful. It was old dated and needs much tlc. There was no closet. Mold in the tub. Score 4 out of 5 Wonderful front desk staff Anonymous, Sacramento, CA The Denny's next door was the perfect place to take a very hungry Airman at a reasonable cost. The Howard Johnson Motel was clean but basic in its amenities. The best part about the motel was its very friendly and helpful front desk staff. The evening clerk provided directions to the hotel and welcomed us. She gave directions the next day to Lackland AFB and thanked us for our son when she found out he was graduating from basic training. She was quick to assist on any item, from change for the vending machines to providing tissues that weren't refilled by housekeeping. The continental breakfast was not always plentiful but the motel seemed to be full of other families attending graduation. The location was good and the price was reasonable so I would recommend to other families with the caveat that the rooms while the rooms were clean, they are not spacious or appropriate for entertaining guests or more than one Airman at a time. Score 4 out of 5 Great Location Anonymous, 2007-03-11 Near Sea WorldThe location was good - away from all the construction in other areas of San Antonio. Easy access to downtown area. Did not like that breakfast was only served until 9am (should serve until at least 10 am like most hotels who offer complementary breakfast). They have a sign, but it is only visible from the highway if you are coming in from the East-not from the West. The staff was very good and the cleanliness was good, but the bed was one of the hardest and seemingly full of lumps I've ever experienced. That was my only major complaint, but think I'd choose another motel in the area over this one. |
