This hotel was dreadful.

Anonymous, 2007-02-11

The hotel on the outside looks horrible. Just from the parking lot made you want to leave. Before check in noticed that there was a cop circling the parking lot. That should have been a sign to leave immediatley. The first room was unbareable. There was a major crack in the door and it wad freezing that weekend. The sheets were dirty, the floor was nasty. the furniture looked like it came from salvation army. the bathroom was GROSS. hadn't been cleaned. There was only a half a roll of toliet paper and no back up roll. the bathroom sink had burns all over it and it reeked of MOLD. called the front desk to switch rooms. the 2nd room was better compared to the first. The second room smelled even worse! The towells were filthy (thank-god i pack towells!) The linen still smelled as if it hadn't been clean. the matress was ripped. the same episode with the bathroom not being clean. Needless to say.. I DID NOT ENJOY THIS HOTEL, IT'S STAFF OR LOCATION. LEFT THE SAME DAY I CHECKED IN. IT WAS NASTY. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS OR FAMILY. NOT EVEN MY WORSE ENEMY!

Dirty and Old

Francisco, 2006-06-09

Its was the worst hotel We evern been in, the rooom was dirty and stinky also the main door from the room was almost falling down, at night I woke up to use the bathroom turn the light on and a bunch of roaches started running every where, as far as room service there was none you would have to clean your own room, anyway I would not recomend the Alamo Lodge to anybody

not to recommend

Pamela, 2006-06-04

Only fastfood or simple restaurants.

The Alamo Lodge is a hotel which have to be renovated. The rooms are bad, for example the door to the bath was demolished, broken. Mirrors were not hanging on the wall, but leaned against the wall, not enough towels, we could receive only one channel on the television and there were a lot of dirty spots on the carpet. As I had my own travelagency in Germany, I've seen a lot of hotels in the world and this one was one of the worst.

Don't go there!

Louis, Dallas, TX, 2006-04-23

I knew the Alamo Lodge was a shaky place at best when I walked into the reception desk area only to find the night clerk behind a 2 inch bullet proof glass. That doesn't give me a good sense of security. The attendant was a crossdresser which doesn't offend me. However, I could see how it would scare some others. The room was filthy, had no alarm clock, no remote for the TV. I at least expected to feel safe. I really didn't. In fact, I just ate my losses and stayed at another hotel the second night.

Horrible experience

Billy, Trinidad, 2006-03-18

It was right off the river walk.

The Alamo Lodge was a horrific experience for my family and I. It was located in a horrible part of town and it looked like the city dump.

Good to travel with your pet

Maria, 2005-11-27

River walk, Alamo, etc are close, just a short drive, DON'T WALK!

The room was ok, but not too clean .... we ask for more towels and never get them. The neighborhood and people in the hotel look very scary ... It's was ok for the money and my dog was kind of happy. The tv was bad, barely can see something. In the other hand, the staff was very friendly and kind. It's close to downtown but you need to go in a car, I don't recomend to walk around, looks very dangerous. From 1 to 10 I'll give it a 3.

Real nice employees but a DIRTY hotel

Anonymous, 2005-09-25

It is close to the Alamo and the Riverwalk.

The employees were very nice people but the room was extremely dirty and everything inside was broken in some way. To be blunt this place is a real dive.

Any port in a storm

Anonymous, Houston, TX, 2005-09-25

It is convenient to the freeway. I35 south is only a few blocks away.

As I was evacuating from hurricane Rita I was willing to accept just about anything. Under those conditions the Alamo Lodge was adequate. Under other circumstances it would have been inadaquate. The housekeeping was sporadic, they would not show up unless called. The lack of towels was chronic, such that I had to buy my own. There was no microwave or fridge as advertised. Local calls were limited to 5 per day and the TV was only able to receive one channel clearly. The location was not bad but it was in an out of the way area not too convenient to shopping or restaurants. Overall I was satisfied but I don't think it rates two stars, more like a half star.
