Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Elegant and comfortable Anonymous, Salt Lake City, UT This hotel is right in the heart of the theater district. We felt very pampered in this hotel. The surroundings were very pleasing and elegant. The attention to details like the robes, fresh flowers, high thread-count sheets, down pillows and comforters and the complimentary turn-down service were very delightful. The complimentary towncar service was also an added treat. Our only real complaint was the lack of spa or pool of any kind (although it had a nice fitness room), the restaurant was not full of many choices, and there wasn't any kind of shop to purchase drugstore items of any kind like a larger chain hotel would normally have. Other than that, this was a charming hotel that I would recommend to anyone...but not to a family. It's more for couples or business travelers. Score 5 out of 5 Not your usual hotel room Julie I was immediately struck by the difference in this hotel room. Color on the walls, a lovely small sitting area, and the four poster bed all made it seem like I was a guest in someone's home, rather than a hotel guest. Due to an unexpected parade the following morning, it became an issue with local law enforcement to get my car out of valet parking. The hotel staff went above and beyond duty to take care of this problem. My bags were carried to the parking garage, and I was escorted to the exit. The hotel staff worked with local police to allow me to drive the wrong way on a one way, in order to get out of the downtown area. I was pleased that they made it a priority to get me on the road, in order to keep my next appointment Score 5 out of 5 Excellent experience Debora, 2007-03-06 Live Sports Bar and Shay's were great fun. There's a fun Cuban restaurant and Japanese food nearby also. The Lancaster Hotel is fabulous. I was only going to have room service for breakfast one morning, but the food is so outstanding I ordered room service for breakfast everyday. I can't say enough about the Lancaster chef - amazing Johnny cakes, stuffed mushroom appetizers, and something called birchus muesli that is out of this world. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The hotel is a short walk to the metrolink which we took to Reliant Stadium to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the rodeo. Also nearby are great restaurants and bars. Score 5 out of 5 Great Location James, 2007-02-25 The Alley Theater is across the street. The Wortham Center is a short walk. The Toyota Center, Allen Center and many excellent restaurants are within walking distance and the Lancaster Bistro is in the hotel and is exquisite. The Lancaster Hotel is located in downtown Houston. You are within walking distance of theaters, opera, symphony, excellent restaurants and night life of various kinds. The metro rail service will take you to the museum district, shopping, parks and the zoo. The service at The Lancaster is above expectation. The cuisine at the Bistro is not to be missed. The spacious comfort of the room made me feel right at home. Above all the warm and welcoming feeling from the staff from the minute you arrive until you leave is why I will return again and again. Score 5 out of 5 Very Personable Anonymous, Houston, TX, 2006-07-23 Lots of theatres. At first we were concerned because it seemed a little more business class....and we were there just for a weekend of relaxation and a local concert. However, immediately the staff made us feel welcomed and enjoyed the stay the entire weekend. It is a luxury hotel with all the amenities. I was in Houston to attend a meeting in the Downtown area and the hotel was within walking distance. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Everything about my stay was great! Score 4 out of 5 good location MANUEL, Miami, FL, 2006-06-24 very close to theaters, opera etcchic, excellent location, good staff, bad smell, fitness too small, tv set very old, breakfast didnt arrive, no bussines center at all, only one computer Score 4 out of 5 Great location Eric, 2006-05-03 Best jazz restaurant in town Sambuca is one block away, as is the Opera and the Alley theater, and movie housesThe first night they put us in a very small room (miniscule bathroom) on a smoking floor - the whole floor stank of tobacco - we had to leave the airconditioning on very high and we froze rather than breathed the air. Next night they moved us to a non smoking floor and a larger room and it was pleasant. The staff are very nice and the hotel location is great. |
