dirty place in the middle of nowhere

Anonymous, Boston, MA, 2006-10-27

The Howard Johnson's Express Houston was in an out-of-the-way location. There weren't any businesses, restaurants or anything within walking distance. In addition, the room smelled wet and moldy and a bit like a dog. The air-conditioner didn't work, only blew room-temp air and it was in the 80s and humid when I visited. I wouldn't recommend staying.

You Get What You Pay For

Anonymous, 2006-07-08

Not far from downtown.

Hotel was not what I expected from a national chain. It was run more like a locally owned motel rather than what I would think of a Howard Johnson's. I did not pay top dollar for the room so I guess I got what I paid for.

Good for the money, should have own transportation

Theresa, Atlanta, GA, 2006-06-26

Food could be delivered from a near by restaurant such as pizza and chicken, a refrigerator and microwave was provided in the room which was very nice.

No restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast consisted of milk, cereal and fruit on some mornings. Most of staff could not speak English and would say those items were only available during the winter months. Over all descent for the money. Adequate space for the cloths, towels and suit cases. Didnot provide shuttle services so we spent alot of money on cab services everyday.

friendly and confortable

Jack, 2006-05-25

There is a steak house 2 blocks away across from the Valero gas station. Steak, potato, and salad were excellent.

The HoJo Express was located to the interstate and Rice University. The desk clerk was extremely helpfull. He gave me the easiest route to get to the university and also gave me an excellent dining facility for a top notch steak. The only down fall was that the water pressure was very low, making taking a shower an adventure. The room was very clean and the maids keep it neat and stocked with all the goods during my stay.

Worst Wreak for a room

william, Richmond, VA, 2006-05-14

This Howard Johnson Express was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The AC didnt work properly. The hotel is between IH 10 and train tracks. It was to noisey to get any real sleep. The sheets did not fit the bed. The blanket was full of burn holes. The comforter had stains that looked fresh. The tub was was very slick. The bath tub facet sprayed water out of the shower valve witch limited the water that came out of the shower head. The hotel only supplied one towel and wash cloth per person. The gentalman that worked the counter did not speak very good english and the lady did not seem to unstand english at all. The neighborhood was not the best. The hotel was diffecult to get when existing east off IH 10.

Should be More Clean

Anonymous, New Iberia, LA, 2005-09-09

Close to downtown Houston. And, at the same time, at a distance that provides solitude.

Observations: 1. Should be cleaner. 2. Basic utilities like Air Conditioner should be working properly. 3. The Microwave oven and the refrigerator were not connected to power line. 4. The hotel employees were cordial and helpful. 5. May have more space in the lobby.
