Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Interesting decor with the best hotel bed ever Anonymous, Houston, TX, 2006-11-15 Looking for a fun place to stay in Houston that offered a current room decor. Just didn't want something tired or typical. Hotel Alden fit the bill! Hotel lobby was interesting, staff nice, room small but very well done with a great mattress and bedding. I wish the overnight parking was less expensive, particularly when arriving with two cars. The curb is cluttered with taxis and other cars making it easy to drive past. Maybe the alley to the left of the hotel could be converted to a drop off/check in spot. More decorative/accent lighting on the exterior would make arrival feel more special/eventful/welcoming and actually help to see Hotel. Great proximity to sports and theatre and the rail car. Score 5 out of 5 Great room for the Money Scott, 2006-11-13 Two blocks from the Harris county court house and fine dining and nice bar area in the hotel. This hotel was a pleasant surprise. I was very happy with the location and the interior decor was very pleasing. I will stay there next time I am in Houston. The location is great, very near numerous bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. I really don't have a single bad thing to say about the Alden, we will definitely be staying there again some day. Score 5 out of 5 Great Accomodations Daniela, Miami, FL, 2006-10-09 The Hotel was beautiful and the people very nice. I really liked the rooms and the decoration. It was very clean and tidy. The only thing I did not like is that they charge the guests for valet parking. $25.00 per night. I foud that terrible. On top of that we asked for bottled water and was charched $30 for three bottles. Besides these two things, it was a nice experience. Score 4 out of 5 Nice small hotel RICHARD, San Antonio, TX, 2006-09-03 ballpark 3blocks awayClose to ballpark but not the greatest area of downtown. Be carefull if you decide to walk. Score 5 out of 5 Nice boutique hotel Mark, 2006-05-22 Really enjoyed this "W style" hotel. Former Sam Houston Hotel, several blocks from MinuteMaid Ballpark. Modern and clean, and with a warm feel. Very cool lobby, bar and restaurant. Score 4 out of 5 Good location, posh, but not outstanding Anonymous, Detroit, MI, 2006-04-18 Short walk to Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros. The Alden was a beautiful boutique hotel. The dark color scheme and wood were very trendy. Our room was not huge, but we didn't need more space. The granite-walled bathroom was great with an interesting sink and a walk in shower. The Alden provides Aveda products in the bathroom, so that was a bonus. The room; however, could have been cleaner. It was dusty and with the dark wood used, it really showed up. There were numerous nicks in the walls and furniture. The staff was always pleasant, but nobody went out of their way for us. Parking is valet only, $25 to park overnight. The car was always brought to us very promptly after our call. Score 5 out of 5 Nice Relaxing Atmosphere Lori, Charlotte, NC, 2006-02-27 Mia Bella - excellent choice for Italian food St. Pete's - some of the best seafood I've had in a long time My favorite place of all time, The Breakfast Club, when the line is hanging around the building, you know the food has to be great!Often times you wonder if the place you are staying will live up to what others say. The Alden-Houston lived up to its name in every way. The hotel sits nicely in a renovated building in the downtown area. It's within walking distance of the train station, restuarants, clubs, and entertainment. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and contemporary, yet every thing was nicely in its place and elegantly laid out. The warm plush robe was an added bonus for getting out of the enormous glass shower. Overall, this was an excellent choice for my husband and I to spend our anniversary. There is no doubt, I would stay there again if I am ever in the Houston area again. |
