Established in 1912, this landmark in the heart of El Paso has brought together the elegance that characterizes the Camino Real name and all the warmth and tradition of southern hospitality.
Located in El Paso's revitalized downtown adjacent to the newly remodeled convention center and only 15 minutes away from the airport, the Camino Real El Paso is a shining testament of the city's colorful past and vibrant future. Listed in the National Historical Register, the Camino Real offers 359 Texas sized rooms and suites and offers the grandeur you would expect from this hotel gem, beginning from the most photographed grand staircase in the Southwest, to the exquisite crystal chandeliers in the lobby and ballrooms, to the marble crafted by skilled Italian craftsmen almost a hundred years ago. In addition, the Camino Real has the most options to offer visitors coming to the Sun City. Conventions, seminars and social events can be staged in one of nineteen meeting rooms with space for up to 1300 guests. Our guests can savor the exquisite taste of regional Mexican cuisine in Azulejos or indulge their senses in our fine dining Dome restaurant. The world famous Dome Bar provides the perfect ambiance for an unforgettable evening. One can enjoy a cocktail under the breathtaking Tiffany cut glass dome, which is 25 feet in diameter and is suspended by wires. Come experience the "jewel" of the city, Camino Real El Paso.
Most recent user reviewsScore 3 out of 5 My review of Camino Real El Paso Anonymous Across the street is a trolley service that will take one across with boarder the easiest way to get there. The Plaza Theater is in front of the hotel, it has been renovated and has some interesting concerts. Several museums are within walking distance. The bathroom fixture were corroded. The room itself was ok in a "vintage way". The breakfast buffet was sparse. The staff tried to be accommodating; however whenever a question for directions was asked, several people had to be consulted. Positive side, several museums are within walking distance and a stained glass dome in the bar is nice. Score 5 out of 5 Great for business trips duncan, Jacksonville, FL It is idealy located for driving in and out of Mexico. The border crossing is a two minute driveThe Camino Real in El Paso is a beautiful hotel it is being renovated right now.Make sure you ask for a room that has been renovated. The hotel is situated in downtown El Paso with a very short drive to the Mexican city Juarez, which is where we were conducting business. The rooms are clean the staff is friendly, the food in the resturant is very good.We will be going back to this hotel again Score 4 out of 5 nice old el paso hotel Anonymous, New York, NY, 2007-03-06 They have a free shuttle from the airport.I chose the Camino Real because I prefer old hotels. It's a little shabby, but I rather like that. If you like slick, it's probably not for you. Ditto luxe. But it has a great old bar, with a beautiful Tiffany dome, and they serve Starbucks coffee in the morning. The lobby seems to function as an art gallery, with huge paintings of horses and such that must be for sale. It would be better (much better) without these paintings. The other reason I stay here is because they have a business center. The computers are slow, but the computers mostly work--and you don't have to pay extra. For all these reasons, I will stay there again. Score 1 out of 5 Avoid Camino Real Anonymous, Denver, CO, 2007-03-04 The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, a default tip in the room service invoice was always included (even after bringing a disgusting - don't try hot chocolate- breakfast one hour later), and they even asked for more tip after this first charge. An exception were some of the shuttle guys. From now onwards, We must go once a year to El Paso due to a literature annual conference, but never again to Camino Real, where the conference is held. No agreement between price and quality, nice building, structure and tha's all. If you want to prevent yourselves from inconveniences, avoid Camino Real. Score 5 out of 5 Texas Welcome Silvana, Oakland, CA, 2007-02-20 Juarez Mexico where the currency exchange is $11.00 to $1.00 (peso). Lots of good food to be had. The trolley car will take the shopper to each participating vendor. Lots of Mexican products to enjoy and take home with you. Mexico is fun!Camino Real is an historic hotel that has lived up to its history in beauty, style and comfort. The interior of the hotel is lovely, red marble, beautiful tiffany glass (in the Dome bar), impressive in a Texan style. Staff was accomodating and very courteous from the desk reception, valets, maids and all concerned. Azuletos (the cafe) is an ideal place to eat and reasonably priced. The Dome Restaurant - white linen table cloth luxury. Beautiful interiors. Location! Right across the U.S. Mexican Border; take local trolley across the border for visit to Juarez (Viva Juarez!). (I rented a car for my use in El Paso. There is a shuttle to and from the airport to the Camino Real. Nice room, comfortable beds, good interiors, nice carpets, everything works. Enjoyed it much and will return. Score 5 out of 5 Nice place to visit Mark, Seattle, WA, 2006-12-30 Lots of wonderful little shops with a Mexican feel within a short walk. Historical walk through town is fun. Nice place to relax.Real Camino Hotel was an excellent value and a very nice and roomy place to hangout for the Sun Bowl. We were right in the middle of all the festivities and it was easy to get just about anywhere you would have wanted to go in El Paso. Great place to stay if you want to see El Paso. Score 4 out of 5 Freeway Close Tony, 2006-11-09 Jack In the Box bear by.For an old Hotel it has lots of character. The dining options are high scale. Freeway close to get around if required. Also, just across the street from the El Paso Civic Center. This was my second stay at Camino Real. The property offers great on-site parking and beautiful lobby and bar and two good resturants. Guest rooms are very spacious. This room was a little run down and could use a little TLC but overall a good experience. I would definatly stay here again. Not a hotel with much to offer kids. Score 5 out of 5 Centrally Located Patricia, Los Angeles, CA, 2005-10-22 Shopping in Juarez, Mexico was just a walk away from the hotel. Shopping was also easy to get to in the downtown area. The El Paso Chili Factory was a great find. It was a longer walk from the hotel but worth the effort. The Camino Real is located in the heart of downtown El Paso. For traveling to other parts of the city is comventiently located a few blocks from the freeway. This is a historic hotel with the most beautiful Tiffany stained glass dome over the bar on the first floor. The room was comfortable with plenty of hanging space for clothing. Being older though the hotel could use some paint and new carpet but if you did not spend much time in the room those things would never be noticed. The convenience of the location and the dome far outweighed any shabbiness. The staff were great. Room service was timely and the food was good. The hotel was within walking distance of the border to Mexico and the shops in downtown. |
