Located just north of downtown Austin, the La Quinta Inn-Austin Highland Mall is only minutes from the Austin Convention Center, Texas State Capitol, Travis County Expo Center, and the University of Texas. Visit Bob Bullock State History Museum, 6th Street and the Warehouse District, and the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum. No visit to Austin is complete without seeing the famous Congress Avenue Bats and the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo.
Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 My review of La Quinta Inn Austin Highland Mall Anonymous, Washington, DC, 2006-11-06 The Highland Mall is fairly close by. There are also several restaurants, mostly small and chain, up and down 183.The La Quinta Inn Austin Highland Mall was comfortable and clean enough for the price. That being said, it wasn't exactly sparkling. It's a no frills stay for those who just need a place to sleep over, not for those expecting luxe room and board to lounge around in. A standard hotel room hair dryer is included as well as an ironing board w/iron, a coffee maker, and a suitcase stand. The closet is tiny but does include wood hangers. The bathroom is also very small, with the sink area outside of the shower/tub and toilet room. There is also decent cable. The staff is great--very friendly and helpful. As for location, it's short drive to downtown and the Highland Mall. This is not a walking area as it is practically on the highway and walking anywhere close would require trying to cross several lanes of traffic, sans crosswalks. Either way, there's not a whole lot you would want to walk to anyway. Overall, this is a decent value if you need an affordable stay. Luis, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2006-05-27 The Hotel was more like a Motel with all the rooms leading outside. The room was large, clean and confortable, however it had a noisy air conditioner and quite a bit of traffic noise. The property was located almost under a major higway overpass and thus the noise. It was very akward to get in and out of the property because of the location near major intersections. Many good restaurants and a large shopping mall nearby. I think is good value for the money for a short business trip or a family on a budget. Score 5 out of 5 Review Dewayne, Waco, TX, 2006-03-14 Papadeaux Seafood across the interstate as well as Papasitos Mexican Food. A good steakhouse within walking distance on same side of street. It is just what I needed and where I needed it. The price was right, the room was clean and neat. The location of the hotal was near many things that I needed to be near and very convenient. The check-in took two minutes. Good restaurants within walking distance and wiothing five minutes driving distance. Again, not a vacation hotel but a good experience and a good place to stay in Austin. Good continental breakfast. People friendly. Hotel Staff are very nice and helpful. Location seems safe. Lots of restaurants in the vecinity. However, the telephone went out in our room and it was crucial that we had one - it was some time before being replaced. The cleaning crew didn't vaccuum the room & make the beds but just left towels instead. We probably would not stay at this particular hotel again if traveling in Austin.
