The location was less than a mile from the beach. There were plenty of Restaurants and shops close by. The room was very large, clean and comfortable. Very quite also. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Overall it was a very nice place to stay and I have already recommended it to friends. Score 4 out of 5 Not very impressed.... Anonymous, New Bern, NC, 2006-11-16 For the most part the hotel room waas fine. However, I did not feel very safe staying there as there was a flimsy sliding glass door on one side and the deadbolt on the door to come into the room didn't work. I tried switching rooms and the other room had the same problems, I did end up switching to a higher floor and felt somewhat safer with the sliding glass door leading to a porch instead of just open to the ground. The room was very big and the shower was good. Score 5 out of 5 Great quiet location Cathy, 2006-10-19 Great location - short walk for dining, shopping, and the beach. The Players Club was great for the value, and location was a short walk to the beach. The rooms are spacious, but the lighting was dim and needs improvement. Bathroom was large, and the surroundings were beautiful. Lots of paths for biking and/or walking. Lots of closet space. Score 5 out of 5 great value DAVID, 2006-06-07 Dinner at Sticky Fingers!!! was Excellent Dinner at The Big Bamboo was very good and they have specials. 2 for 1 drinks!Players Club Hotel Hilton Head was an excellent value choice. The staff was very helpful, the room was clean. The security was very good and the swimming pool was clean and spacious. Some concerns you may anticipate: Lighting in room was dim, just bring a 100wt bulb with you, pack some charmin toilet paper also! The walk to the beach was approx. 10 minutes. You can't park your car near the beach, you have to walk so be prepared to carry beach items. We suggest a little laundry pull cart, may people had those!!!! Hilton Head is very dark at night so driving to and from various locations is a bit tricky but that is part of the beauty of the place no neon lights, no large signs. Just bring your gym shoes and be prepared to walk around a bit to enjoy the sights. The island is absolutely beautiful.!! The value for this hotel was excellent!!! Score 4 out of 5 Comfort in a Suburb-By-The-Sea Setting David, 2006-05-14 Beautiful, enormous beach about 3/4 mile away; must cross busy road with no traffic light or pedestrian crosswalk. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, and had a small balcony overlooking a small lagoon inhabited by fish and turtles (no alligators). The walls between rooms are not well-insulated, and we were kept awake by a partying nextdoor group until the wee hours. The property was fine, but is a rather difficult long walk to the beach because Hilton Head Island is not pedestrian-friendly, but rather is designed in a post-1950's auto-dependent, suburban fashion. We prefer older resorts with town-centers and a village atmosphere, and therefore have no plans to return to HHI. But if you're fond of the suburban life-style, go for it; this hotel will suit you adequately. Score 2 out of 5 1 hour check-in John, 2006-05-06 I stood in line for more than 45 minutes . Apparently, they were giving away free rooms with a time share visit down the road. There was one person checking everyone in and there was a six page application for the free room. Rather than taking the 'paying customers' , he made us all wait as he went through the entire process over and over with each person. I just wanted keys and a bed. It was awful, hot, muggy and understaffed. I will NOT return. Score 5 out of 5 nice hotel Jamie, 2006-04-24 There is an outlet mall nearby on the mainland with great shops and good discounts. This hotel was very clean, the rooms are big, and the staff is very helpful. Score 5 out of 5 Great off season rate Anonymous, 2006-03-08 Market cafe was great. Had Greek, Italian and american food. Was very reasonable and family owned and operated. Went back a couple of times.Very large well appointed room in a good location on Hilton Head. If you are willing to walk, the beach is 10 minutes away and you are close to shoping and restaurants. Easy parking and central location. Score 4 out of 5 Overall, a nice place to stay Jane, 2005-08-23 main roads nearby with many nice restaurants and shopping available. Easy to find, also all types of churches. This hotel was very clean and a good looking property. They do not have a dining room or a place to get a snack/coffee. There is a coffee pot in the room, but no place to go on the property. There seemed to be some conflict between the time share buildings and the hotel building and as a result no laundry facilities were available for hotel guests. We would have been happy with the laundry and a coffee shop or even a gift shop for snacks and cold drinks. Still overall we liked it. |
