We are in the process of renovating the hotel to become a full service Marriott. All of our available sleeping rooms have been completely renovated and are beautifully appointed with Marriott pillowtop bedding, stylish furniture, and luxurious bath.We are, however, still renovating the outside of the hotel as well as the lobby, pool area, and fitness facility. Please be advised our restaurant or lounge cannot be used, therefore, we are only offering "Grab and Go" breakfasts. Also note, the pool and fitness center are not currently available for use. Renovations are complete for the rooms, but the main public spaces, exterior, front entrance and parking area are still under major construction.Completion of construction/renovations expected in February 2007 !!!
Most recent user reviewsScore 2 out of 5 Hotel in process of renovation. Patrick The property is in the process of renovations and I believe will be beautiful when complete but after driving for 12 hours, we wanted to have a drink and a nice dinner without driving somewhere else. There was nothing else within walking distance of the hotel. Instead, we had to drive to a Holiday Inn on the other side of the river for our meal and drinks. Score 5 out of 5 Renovation Ugly but Excellent Room E, 2006-10-09 Look past the dust and bare drywall in the lobby and enjoy the great view from your room. We had a view of the marina and looking towards downtown Charleston. A stormy night made for a great lightshow over James Island. The bedding has been upgraded and was very comfortable. New beds, new carpet, new furniture. The bathrom featured a walk in shower with dual adjustable heads with hard hitting hot water! It was almost a massage. Towels were large and fluffy. Downtown is a short car or cab ride away. Two turns and you are shopping and eating on King St. Enjoy the fine restaurants when in Charleston because there was no food service at the hotel on our visit. The staff was friendly and eager to make us feel welcome. An excellent value while the renovation is in progress. Score 4 out of 5 under construction James, Charleston, SC, 2006-10-07 Under construction and hard to find the 'front door'a long walk to the elevators and not much of a breakfast, but the staff and room was very nice. It took 4 days to get a call back on my lost item that I left in the room. Score 3 out of 5 Remodeling Stephen, Nashville, TN, 2006-04-01 Downtown Charleston was a short drive, maybe 5-10 minutes away. Easy access to other attractions. Our stay at the Charleston Riverview Hotel was ok. The hotel is under major renovations and in my opinion they should not offer rooms that have construction going on so closely to completed/rented rooms. I'm sure once the renovation is complete the hotel will be a nice place to stay, but our experience was less than stellar. The location to downtown Charleston was very accessible, which was very nice. We thought the hotel restaurant a little pricey, so we never ate there. Score 1 out of 5 Review Jeremy, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-03-10 Our ceiling started leaking in the middle of the night. The staff was slow to help. It took almost 2 hours to get another room when there were numerous rooms available. They said I would get my money back but I have not. I would never recommend this hotel to a friend or enemy. Score 3 out of 5 My review of Charleston Riverview Hotel Anonymous, 2005-06-14 I was surprised that when we checked in I asked the receptionist if she needed to see my ID or charge card she said no. Then when we left the night before they slipped the reciept under the door for the hotel bill. With identity fraud so strong it really concerned me. I do understand it maybe a quick and easy way to travel.I'm not sure if it's the correct way. When we arrived to the hotel we went to the room. When we got to the Hotel they were doing reconstruction.I understand you have to update.I do feel the comsumer should of been told. If I had known I probably would not of booked at that hotel. Went to my room to freshen up. Minutes after I was there someone outside the hotel that was doing construction hit a power line. We were out of water and power for 4 hours.Wan't there fault, just another factor. The hotel's restaurant was only open for breakfast.Thought that was strange when they had a menu posted for dinner items. The AC in the room barely worked. Don't know if it was due to constuction or needed repaired. They were booked and we were oonly there a short time so we stuck it out.It was OK,just not sure if I'd stay there again. Score 5 out of 5 Memorial Day Charleston visit. PHILLIP, 2005-05-30 Very nice hotel. Locatiion was at first a little scarry, but all worked out fine. Stay on upper floors for a great view. Nice pool. Score 2 out of 5 Gone downhill Anonymous, Durham/Raleigh, NC, 2005-04-01 I stayed in this same hotel when it was the Radisson a few years ago. It was great then but it has gone downhill since. It has a beautiful lobby and good service. However, the cleanliness and the quality of the rooms has declined. The shower and bathroom had the appearance of being unclean, although that may have been a result of age. I would stay here again if I were looking for an affordable short visit. |
