Score 5 out of 5 charming leonard, Milwaukee, WI Try the Cru Cafe. It is small and very easy to miss, but the food is great. It can get quite busy, but the reason is obvious, great food. Another great idea is to go to the Charleston cooking school. Chefs entertain while providing great food and recipes. Consider the Meritage for late night, small plate dining. From our arrival to our departure, the hotel staff made our visit a pleasant one. We arrived by taxi and were quite hungry. The staff recommended a wonderful place for lunch that was only one block away from our hotel. The food was so good that we went back another day for dinner. The hotel recommendations for things to do and places to see continued and were most helpful. Location is a prime asset of the Pinckney. Shopping, carraige rides, cooking school, restaurants, historical sights and walks are within a short distance from the hotel. We managed to get along without a car quite nicely. Overall the Pinckney felt like home away from home. The hotel is relatively small and you do get to know other guests while having breakfast on the terrace. You will also get to know some of the friendly staff. Go Pinckney! Score 5 out of 5 friendly staff Kathryn actually, nightlife, dining, and shopping are all within a 3 block radius! Location was spectacular!!customer service wonderful... wish they had a fitness area... my sister forgot their toothbrush and they had run out of extras(which means they usually have back up stuff)...would stay here again in a heart beat! What a treat. Their lowcountry seafood offerings were totally yummy. And despite their popularity, we didn't have to wait at lunch for a table. After a wonderful night's rest in a downy bed, I opened the spanking white shutters on the day. A warm glow caught my eye through the palm trees. The front of the hotel was the warmest gold made even more beautiful by the morning sun. It set the tone for our entire stay. Everything was special with a lovely backdrop of history. We had plenty of room, easy access to the business center computer, and just one block from famous restaurants on Meeting Street. We're returning, that's for sure! Score 4 out of 5 Should be better Bill, New York, NY, 2006-10-16 The hotel is well located in Charleston near shopping and tourist sites, and is well appointed with nice furniture, wooden shades, good toiletries. However, my particular room had not been thoroughly cleaned - a previous guest had apparantly been sick and remnants of throw-up remained on a windowsill and one spot on the rug. While the problem was swiftly resolved, it shouldn't have happened. The included breakfast is in a small outdoors room, not large enough for the demand. The one attendant couldn't resupply food quickly enough, and the OJ was empty everytime I went for it. The limited on-site parking is $12, no different from the public garages. Part of the hotel is located in a separate building across the street from the main lobby, and does not have a secured entrance or lobby attendant. I didn't feel unsafe, but this could perhaps be an issue for some. Score 5 out of 5 Great Find Donna, Norfolk, VA, 2006-10-01 Very close to shopping, dinning and historical sites. No need for a car. All within walking distance. The Andrew Pinkney Inn was a pleasant surprise in one of the best city on the east coast. The hotel was in a great location and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast served on the roof top was awesome. I would highly recommended it to all. Score 5 out of 5 Excellent damage repair nikki, Greenville, SC, 2006-09-15 Eat breakfast on top of the inn on the terrace overlooking the market. It says "heavy continental breakfast, but it is muffins, bagels, cereal, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and buiscits and gravy! YUMMY!The Andrew Pinkney Inn was a quaint little inn right in the heart of downtown Charleston. I absolutely loved the location, the antique Old Charleston style, and the fresh baked warm cookies in the lobby. When we arrived, I had specified 2 double beds. When we got to our room, it was very, very, small, and there was only 1 double bed. I went back down to the office, and explained to the assistant that this just simply would not work, due to the nature of our visit, and the parties staying. I also explained that I had cancelled reservations at another hotel, and paid more to stay here, bc of its uniqueness, and the manager of the inn overheard our conversation, and told her to upgrade us to a townhouse. It was absolutely fabulous. It had a sleeper-couch, living area, tv, refridgerator, microwave, half bath downstairs, and upstairs had a kingsize bed, full bathroom with glass shower, jacuzzi corner-style tub in the corner of the bedroom at the top of the stairs, and another tv. The windows could be opened, and there was a view of the market. I loved it. I would recommend staying in a townhouse. Wonderful visit~ Score 5 out of 5 Best location michael, Washington, DC, 2006-07-17 In the summer get out early. The Andrew Pinckney Inn is a great stay. It's right around the corner from Market street and a great jumping point to get to all the carage tours. You are in walking distance of everything that is worth seeing in Charleston. We had a great time. you will too. Score 5 out of 5 extra charge Kathleen, Greenville, SC, 2006-06-09 Everything was a short walk away, we were right in the heart of itWhen I Checked in I was asked where I parked, I said in the courtyard next to the hotel. I was then asked for credit card for extra amenities I might incur. They didn't tell me the extra was $12 for parking there. Wouldn't have minded so much if they would have said so in the first place instead of blind siding me with it the next day. Also had to get my own cart to take my baggage up to my room(no valet),which was across the street. Continental breakfast was okay, the best part was the terrace. TV extremely small, which I like to watch at the end of the day. |
