Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Great location Suzan, Jacksonville, FL, 2007-03-11 Great restaurants at beach center within short walk from hotel.Although it is across the street from the ocean(not directly on the beach), the ocean can be viewed from the balconies. There are a variety of restaurants within walking distance, in addition to the restaurant located at the hotel. Wireless connection to the internet is only available downstairs in the lobby, not in the room, but is well worth the $$. Score 2 out of 5 Not at all friendly Maria, Jacksonville, FL, 2006-09-23 Restaurants and music are within short walking distance.Arrived at 12:00 noon and requested early check in. Was informed that room not available until 3:00p.m. Requested check in without checking into room. Request was denied. Returned to check in at 7:00 p.m. and was greeted by live racoon up in tree next to entrance of hotel. Dissatisfied with the entire experience. Score 2 out of 5 Clean donna, Providence, RI, 2006-09-18 Bring beach towels beach across the streetThe hotel was clean, but very disappointed that both the dining room and pub where closed. I would not have chosen if I new both where closed. Score 2 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2006-09-05 No review provided by user Score 1 out of 5 Customer service...what is that? Stephen, 2006-09-04 Beach which is supposedly across the street...is quite a long walk. This hotel was deplorable. It was in the middle of a complete renovation. The lobby and every hall was full of stacked furniture erractically placed, and in danger of tipping at any moment. There was broken glass all over the property. The restaurant was closed and the staff was complete unsympathetic to the obvious safety hazards and inconvenience we experienced. There were no ammentities available. The manager had always "just left" everytime we wanted to voice our complaints, even though we had left messages indicated we wanted to speak with her. When we arrived at our late check in at 8:00, we were told it could be another 4 hours before furniture was placed in our room. We were forced to stay in this mess because there were no other hotel rooms in town. We had been driving all day. I would not recommend this hotel or staff to anyone....I repeat anyone. Score 4 out of 5 value for money, walking to the beach Anonymous, 2006-08-20 Great bike trail just in front of the hotel. The location was very good, it was really close to the beach. The room had a small kitchen, very convinient when you have small children. Score 4 out of 5 Family friendly Anonymous, 2006-08-04 There was a large shopping/dining area with about 60 shops and restaurants about one mile from the hotel.Very family friendly, across the street form the ocean. Very clean but I wouldn't recommend eating in the restaurant. There was a terrible odor that smelled like raw sweage the last day we were there. The room was spacious and clean but the view from my room on the second floor was of the roof of the lobby and all of the cooling units. All in all, though for the price it was worth it. Score 4 out of 5 Dirty hotel Anonymous, 2006-08-02 This hotel was so dirty and the people weren't friendly at all no one there spoke decent english and they all seemed very inconvinienced with their customers the housekeeping barely did a thing. regardless of all this i had an excellent time in hilton head! Score 1 out of 5 Nightmare at Hilton Head Anonymous, Atlanta, GA, 2006-07-31 The location of the hotel good. It was across the street from the beach so it had easy access. There was also shopping and dining nearby. The Hilton Head Grand is in need of some major building maintenance. The size of the room was acceptable and the location was good. Unfortunately these are really the only good things that I can say about this hotel. We called for maintenance on several occassions and finally checked out and found another hotel. The following items were unacceptable: - refrigerator did not work - the private balcony was about 1 foot wide (so no sitting room) - the hotel was short on towels so we got 2 washcloths for 4 people - the carpet was filthy and the air conditioning unit leaked water so ~1/4 of the carpet was soaking wet - there were dead roaches all over the floor and then live roaches actually crawling in the bed that my 3 yr old daughter was supposed to sleep in I will not return to this establishment and do not recommend it! Score 4 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2006-07-24 The hotel is near the beach and the ocean is very accessible, even though it can not be seen from the property. |
