The Hotel Providence

Nice hotel, but...

There is a large mall called Providence Place that is recommended by the hotel. However, there a few other smaller areas with nice restaurants that aren't far from the hotel. It's worth asking about all of the nearby restaurants.

I arrived at the hotel 45 minutes later having walked several blocks (after parking my car) through a somewhat sketchy neighborhood looking for it. When I asked about places to eat at the time of check-in (approximately 9 p.m.)I was directed to a an unwlecoming bar next door. Apparently the hotel restaurant was closed. With no other options offered I ended up at a 7 Eleven buying pretzel chips for dinner. The next evening I discovered a nearby neighborhood that seemed to have several charming restaurants. So, a directory of nearby restaurants, preferably with some that deliver, would be a welcome addition to the information provided in the room. However, the room was clean and comfortable, nicely decorated, and the staff were all very gracious and pleasant. Really, the main thing was there was no information about where else to eat if the hotel dining room was closed or if you preferred something different.

The very large Providence Mall has many levels with a food court and movie theater and each shopping level is carpetedit. There is also a play house just a block away from the hotel. Resturants and downtown shopping also.

The Hotel Providence was luxurious. It felt more like a bedroom with a bath rather than a hotel room. The bed was very comfortable. It had a victorian feel to it. It was very clean. I love a bed with many pillows. Since the reason for my stay was to attend a presentation by my son at Johnson and Wales Technology dept. I literally only needed to walk out the lobby door directly across the street to the schools building.

the shower was poorly designed and allowed water to leak on to the floor. Beautiful room, though. The bed was a little too soft for my taste. Right in the heart of downtown, so everything was very accessible.

Providence Mall is great!

I just wanted to say that the staff was very friendly and I felt as if my daughter and I were the only guests at the hotel. The room had great character and everything was perfect. L'Epicurio was delicious!!!! 5 stars to the hotel. Without a doubt I would stay here again!

The nearby mall has a Cheesecake Factory, Fire & Ice, along with a steak reastaraunt, and food court.

The Hotel Providence was very comfortable, the room was very nicely designed and the bed was excellent! I liked the fact that the bathroom was spacious, with an invigorating shower, pedistal sink, and weight scale. The room also had a closet for hanging clothes and they provided a suitcase stand. The location was very good -- it was within walking distance to the Providence Mall. There will definitly be a return trip!

Downtown Providence was quiet on the Monday night we visited. We took the six block or so walk to the Mills Tavern a highly review restaurant and found that it lived up to its reputation. Our meal was fantatstic. Great food, nice ambiance and wonderful service.

The Hotel Providence has a very helpful staff, offering local dining suggestions, and giving directions, everyone extremley courteous. Valet parking was very prompt. The property has lovely decor and the room was very comfortable and quiet, a real value. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The are a number of excellent restaurants within easy walking distance.

The Hotel Providence is an old property well refurbished and aesthetically very pleasing with an excellent staff. It is located in the heart of old downtown. Depending on the weekend and the event, you might find the outside noise level to be exceptionally high, especially around 2:00am. More importantly, we also found the inside noise level from one room to another to be exceptionally high. The room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and with high ceilings, but for us the inside noise was a singular, important negative.
