During your Portland vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
The Berry Botanic Garden
Originally founded as a private garden, the Berry Botanic Garden is now one of Portland's favorite public gardens. Among the highlights is a large, forestlike collection of mature rhododendron shrubs. There's also a native plant trail, a fern garden, and rock gardens with unusual plants. The garden is open by reservation only.
Portland Saturday Market
The Portland Saturday Market (actually held on both Sat-Sun) is arguably the city's single most important and best-loved event. For years the Northwest has attracted artists and craftspeople, and every Saturday and Sunday nearly 300 of them can be found selling their creations here. In addition to the dozens of crafts stalls, you'll find ethnic and unusual foods and lots of free entertainment. This is one of the best places in Portland to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts. The atmosphere is always cheerful and the crowds colorful. Located at the heart of the Skidmore District, Portland Saturday Market makes an excellent starting or finishing point for a walk around Portland's downtown historic neighborhood. Don't miss this unique market. On Sunday, on-street parking is free.
Oregon History Center
In the middle of the 19th century, the Oregon Territory was a land of promise and plenty. Thousands of hardy individuals set out along the Oregon Trail, crossing a vast and rugged country to reach the fertile valleys of this region. Others came by ship around the Horn. Today the state of Oregon is still luring immigrants, and those who wish to learn about the people who discovered Oregon before them should visit this well-designed museum.Oregon history from before the arrival of the first Europeans to well into the 20th century is chronicled in fascinating educational exhibits. The displays incorporate Native American artifacts, a covered wagon, nautical and surveying instruments, and contemporary objects such as snow skis, dolls, and bicycles. Museum docents, with roots stretching back to the days of the Oregon Trail, are often on hand to answer questions. There's also a research library that includes many journals from early pioneers. You can't miss this complex--look for the eight-story-high trompe l'oeil mural stretching across the front.

Nordstrom right up the street!
Wonderful Hotel
Greg, Portland, OR, 2006-08-13
This hotel was fabulous. The Assistant Manager was the most helpful and courteous person we have ever worked with.
OK to stay but should have better amenities
Anonymous, San Francisco, CA, 2006-07-16
Many parking spots nearby and close to major department stores and Pioneer centre. Peets coffee is just at the corner.
The room is a bit small but the bathroom is big and clean. Provided good choices of pillows but the beddings aren't too clean. Must ask for a change of beddings the minute you check in. For the price we paid, the hotel should provide slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste at no extra cost. Very friendly hotel staff
Great hotel, small room!

Highly recommend Zell's cafe on the corner of SE Morrison and 13th for breakfast.
We loved the location and the staff of Hotel Lucia. The room was nice however not what the pictures on their website depict. Our deluxe queen room was VERY small. Had I known I would have upgraded to a larger room. I recommend this hotel for their lovely staff and great location.
Charm in a great location
Susan, Indianapolis, IN, 2005-08-22
Lots of shops in the vicinity. Plus, on Saturday and Sunday, you are only a short stroll to the open-air flea market and Chinatown.
The Hotel Lucia is like an unpretentious European hotel. It is small, and the rooms are somewhat cramped. But it is chic and has all the amenities one could desire. The service is excellent, and everyone on the staff is extremely cordial and accommodating. On two occasions, the doorman arranged for a special driver to take me through the city to unusual destinations. I chose this hotel for its location -- which is terrific --but I ended up liking it for its ambiance.
NY Style

Very cool, stylish hotel. Unfortunately, the NY style carries through to the size of the guestrooms, which are very small. Including a tiny bathroom. Overall, a nice hotel but be prepared.
