Located in the heart of downtown Portland, just steps away from shopping, dining, entertainment, and the financial district, the upscale Hotel Monaco Portland reflects the artistic culture of Portland through showcasing early 20th century architecture and original Pacific Northwest art. These artistic elements are highlighted by the hotel's mission of mastering The Art of Hospitality. Art and Hospitality come together in the "Living Room" lobby, with its ornate arches, tailored furnishings and welcoming fireplace that inspire guests during the hosted evening wine reception. With creative juices and regional Northwest wines flowing, guests are encouraged to use the supplied paint, paintbrushes and canvas to create their own Portland-influenced work of art to submit into the hotel's weekly contest. Other amenities include valet laundry, complimentary overnight shoeshine, 24-hour fitness and business centers, valet parking, and a full-service concierge. The pet-friendly hotel welcomes pets with a treat and food and water dishes to use during their stay. Walking services are also available.
Plush furnishings and original artwork also grace the 221 luxurious guestrooms, which are decorated in soft, warm colors and elegant fabrics. In-room spa treatments help melt off a hard day or the renowned Dosha Spa is ready for industrial-strength pampering with a full complement of spa treatments and products. Standard amenities include terry cloth robes, L'Occitane bath products, customizable A/C, coffeemaker, Plasma TV w/built-in DVD player, CD stereo, 2-line phone with voicemail, 24-hour room service, evening turndown, in-room safe, salon-quality hairdryer, minibar, morning paper, umbrella, complimentary DSL and WiFi Internet, cable TV and host of movie channels on demand.
Artistic creativity continues in the Red Star Tavern and Roast House, where regional American cuisine prepared with wood-fired ovens, smoker, rotisseries, and open-flame grille has made it a hit with Portland natives, as well as guests.
The Hotel Monaco Portland also features Kimpton's Forgot It, We've Got It program, where toiletry items that you may have left at home are complimentary provided for a carefree vacation.
Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Dog Friendly Anonymous, Seattle, WA, 2006-12-18 All the great tax free downtown Portland shopping is just outside the front door.We brought our canine companions and the staff was very accomodating. They even provided two nice over-stuffed dog beds, a stainless steel water bowl, two bottles of water, a placemat and two large gourmet dog treats. The room was large with a sleeping area separated from the lounge/desk area by french doors. They offer a complimentary wine hour each day in the lobby and complimentary coffee and tea in the morning. A New York Times is delivered to your door everyday. Score 5 out of 5 Lots of Room Anonymous, 2006-12-17 Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstroms both have large stores nearby. For the price of any other four star hotel, this one had a living room attached to the bedroom. This made our stay feel more like having rented an apartment than a hotel room, and the increase in comfort was noticable. Also, the food at the hotel restaurant kept us coming back so often we barely ate anywhere else. Score 5 out of 5 very customer service Lasita, 2006-10-11 The Red Star restaurant is connected to the hotel.Macys is across the street and many more places of business are around the hotel..Even Starbucks is on the corner for a good morning wake me up..THE fIFTH aVENUE sUITES was a great place to stay and very centrally located. It was really close to all the shopping in downtown Portland and the max train system was close by to take you to the Lloyd Center shopping complex. I liked having the bedroom with the french doors that you could close to separate the bedroom from the living area. There was plenty of space to move around in. Only drawbacks --$25 valet parking, and no complimentry continental breakfast. Would absolutely stay here again. Score 4 out of 5 5th Avenue suites not so sweet at first eric, Medford, OR, 2006-03-20 The lobby has information books for local resturants and shopping guides. One would think this would be in your room, but the lobby is where you will find it.The 5th Avenue Suites was a good hotel but the first night was a little rough. I called the hotel The morning of my arrival and talked with a gentleman that said that he would block out my room since I was arriving late that evening (8 p.m.) and it was St. Patricks Day. He told me that he was going to block out a room for me on the 9th floor. When I arrived, I was put on the second floor with a smaller room than what I was assured I would get that morning. When I questioned the room, I was told I would have to take the available room for the night and that they would be happy to move me to a bigger room the next day. The room was very small and not what I was expecting. There was a bottle of wine waiting with a letter from the hotel manager welcoming a returning guest, not myself. The hotel was gracious enough to give me the bottle of wine complementary. The next day we were moved to the 7th floor but only after asking for the change at the front desk. It is my feelings that the hotel should have made better arrangments for me since I was a guest for 3 nights and it seams that the folks that were staying for 1 night for St. Patties day got the better rooms. Parking was very nice but a little pricey at $25 per night. For the price of the room this should have been included. Staff was very nice and prfessional. They made me and my Lover feel like Kings. The Wine tasting in tghe evenings is a very nice touch. Score 5 out of 5 My review of Fifth Avenue Suites Hotel Anonymous, Seattle, WA, 2006-02-14 great shopping close by--a fun way to spend your extra timeI was in town for business and the staff at the front desk went out of their way to look up information that I needed on the internet since I didn't bring my computer. They were incredibly friendly and helpful.
