My review of Red Lion Hotel Coos Bay

Ocean beaches are within 1/2 drive. The casino is a 5 minute drive

The Red Lion Inn was very comfortable, the rooms that we, (other family members)were cleaner and larger than most. The rooms are provided with a desk that has a work area that provides ample space. I liked the fact that the bathroom was separate from the vanity area and there was a sink.

That was our first impression when we opened the door to our room at The Red Lion in Coos Bay, OR. The rooms had just been remodeled. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms fresh and clean. We were impressed by the size of the rooms; huge! The only negative is that it could use a paint job on the outside of the building and the ice machines in a user friendly place. The restraunt was good too!

Not too far of a drive from the hotel is Sunset Beach. I highly recommend this beach for couples who appreciate a nice view and peaceful surroundings.

The Red Lion in Coos Bay was a great value for my dollar. The room was clean and we felt safe in the area that the hotel was located. The pool was clean and the hot tub was nice and hot! They have live entertainment each Saturday night. Plenty of things to do if you just want to stay at the hotel. I would stay there again.

Easy access to and from highway

The Oregon Dunes Recreational Area is located in North Bend, not too far a drive west of the hotel. It was a great location for viewing a spectacular sunset. There were many all terrain vehicles parked in the lots.

The Red Lion is conveniently located in Coos Bay -- along the main road, but off the street enough to allow for a quieter experience unlike some of the other large, chain hotels in town. Our check-in time was delayed by an hour or so because the computers were down when we and several other guests arrived. The receptionist handled things well enough, but was clearly frustrated. Later, when we were able to check in, the receptionist gave us a good recommendation for dinner. Our room was clean and large although looked like it could use an update. The sink area was part of the room with a small toilet and bath off to the side. Suprisingly in contrast to the clean room, the bathtub appeared not to have been cleaned after the last occupant left. We ate breakfast in the restaurant the next morning and were greeted by a friendly staff who were polite, fast and efficient. Check out was easy.

Nice pool & spa

Our room was fine though the A/C wasn't working properly. The pool and spa area was clean and comfortable; pool was a pleasant temperature. The hotel restaurant was quite good; we ate both dinner and breakfast at a reasonable cost. I would choose in the future to stay somewhere else along the coast as the city of Coos Bay was not the most attractive. There wasn't a walking friendly area near the hotel.

Red Lion Coos Bay is an excellent place to lay your head. The room was larger than usual for a 2-star property and the beds were super. In-room coffee was provided but I would like to see decaf included as well as regular coffee. We did not use the on-site restaraunt so I can't speak to that. All in all a great value!

Location gave close access to Bandon Dunes on the way there and saved a night's cost at the resort.
