For those interested in NorthWest and Lewis and Clark history both are outstanding. Baker City is also a gold rush historic center and there are many historic sites relating to the gold era.The overall hotel property is very beautiful and historic. The food was outstanding and service was good. However, the suite was advertised as two rooms. The "rooms" were divided by a curtain and the sleeper couch was particularly uncomfortable. Score 5 out of 5 Filled with character and a sense of history Anonymous, Portland, OR, 2005-07-25 This historic hotel was a delight. The room was large with high ceilings and wonderful arch topped windows with a view of the mountains. Lots of space with a real sense of history. The dining room was full of character with the wonderful stained glass ceiling and period chandeliers. The staff was especially helpful in handling special meal requests and getting me set up with their wi-fi. Score 4 out of 5 Review of Geiser Grand Hotel Kristine, Seattle, WA, 2005-07-05 First let me say that this is a beautifully restored hotel with large rooms - we were very impressed. Also the location was great, right in the middle of downtown Baker City. Which by the way is very nice. My main problem had to do with noise, which the hotel really couldn't do anything about. You see the second floor overlooks the dining room (it's really beautiful), so we were able to hear people dining if the noise level got above a certain level. Also we were directly above the kitchen. What this amounted to was some noise between 7:30 in the morning to about 11:00 pm. My other complaint was that they need new mattresses. They weren't the worst but they could be better. Would we stay here again? You bet! I would just make sure I stayed on the third floor or at the very least NOT over the kitchen on the second. |
