Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Is great to visit NYC because is in the correct place neear than everything Azalea Just in the midle of Times SquareWe spend a great time in New York City and the hotel was excellent idea, everything was great Score 1 out of 5 worst experience all around Mary, Gainesville, FL, 2007-03-14 As far as the neighborhhod, there are pleanty of restaurants, drug stores, that sort of thing. Close walk to entertainment. In the midst of renovations, I'm sure there is no certificate of occupancy. From the very odd 14 floor checkin apartment, broken elevators, broken deadblot lock, uncover electrixcal outlets, dirt on walls, broken out plaster on walls, smell of a gas leak, large metal bins blocking fire stairs, staff leaves the building at night (except for doorman).Lack of any floor coverings, ripped out carpet and moldings around doorways and in the hallways, torn off wallpaper, holes in the walls....well they should be banned from renting this out until it is made SAFE...We didn't stay for more than 15 minutes...Luckily I called around and found rooms. Score 1 out of 5 What a disaster Paul, 2007-03-11 To whom iot may concern, I have just returned from my recent stay at your location in Manhattan on 53rd. I must say that it was quite and experience. When I arrived and entered the lobby a guard instructed me to go to 14A. I got into the elevator (the only one that worked) and went to the 14th floor. Upon arriving on the 14th floor the entire floor was gutted and I went to 14A. We were able to get a two bedroom that I had reserved and we were quite happy with the room, not knowing what to expect from the hotel reservation of a two bedroom suite. We turned on the TV which did not get any channels - something about a password needed. I picked up the phone in the room (thinking I was in a hotel still - how silly of me) and tried to hit O for an operator to see if we could get a password for the TV by calling the hotel front desk. Unfortunately, the phone was not hooked up either nad the only thing we could get was a taped message asking us if we wanted to buy phone service through the local provider. So with taht we headed down the the 14A and asked people how to fix our TV. They mumbled something about some of the hotel rooms having been service turned off because of past due bills, but told us that they did not have an issue with our room. We also asked for a rollaway bed (this was silly we discovered later). Eventually a person came to our room and spemt about an hour trying to get the TV to work and in fact did get it to work. Unfortunately the hotel did not want to spend money on some pretty common channels like ESPN. Most hotels have that channel -s o we were disappointed. When we were down in 14A trying to get teh TV fixed and the rollaway bed (silly us) we mentioned that we wondered what number to call to get to them if we needed something. They gave us a business card that had teh number 212-956-1825. When we needed to follow-up on the TV and the rollaway (silly us) - the phone number on the card alwasy went into a busy sound. So we spent much time waiting the the 1 elevator that worked to get up and down to 14A. So - the second day of our stay at the Woogo Hotel was similar in nature - no rollaway bed - no pnone no ESPN and now - NO MAID SERVICE. SILLY US. So as the day went by some of your guests in 22K felt as if showering the second day was in their plans. So off to 14A down the 1 elevator that worked we went. The office was quite busy, but the person there told us to go ahead and grab some towels for the next day. We gave up on the rollaway bed by now. The last morning I wanted to be sure we got the one cart for bringing items into the room and I wanted to check with your employees to go through check out procedues. So at 7:00 am (silly me) went to 14A and of course - there was no one there. Thank goodness I did not need to check out until after your staff arrives who we cannot call to ask these questions. Your people come in at 8:00 which is very unhotel like. Anyway - I think you may want to be aware of this situation and maybe change your advertising as to not mislead the victims of coming to you hotel to find out it is not a hotel at all. Score 4 out of 5 Scare at first sight.... Anonymous, 2007-03-05 Only blocks away from Time Square, Theatre's and shopping!Entering the Woogo Midtown Encore scared the daylights out of me. The office is located on a floor which looks straight out of a horror movie, doors opened, rooms trashed and huge X's on the doors. When we arrived at our apartment I was thrilled to find it was like night and day! The apartment was clean, lots of space, bright and safe!! The location is great and there are plenty of parking garages all around! I have recommended the WooGo to others, and for the price we paid you can't beat it! Score 5 out of 5 Great space for the money Anonymous, 2007-02-27 Very close to all the shows. The space was great. Two bedrooms & 2 baths made all the difference. It was worn, but clean. The pull out sofa was broken, but not needed. There were 2 dining room tables, yet only one sofa...a couple more chairs would be helpful. Other people when we were there said the elevator was very slow. We only had one instance that we waited quite a while. The location was perfect. Score 5 out of 5 It's all about location, location, location monica, New York, NY, 2007-02-13 The Moma (Museum of Modern Art), is two blocks from the hotel. And Times Sqaure is not far either. Great Location!I had a one night stay (Feb 12) in a one bedroom. Perfect for two persons. The design made the most of the space, and the furnishings had a simple, elegant line to them. Both the room and bath were spotlessly clean. The room was on the 15th floor so very little street noise could be heard. Theres no room service, but a basket of food and beverages for sale are in each room. The entire hotel staff is friendly, more than helpful, and can address just about anything you might ask of them. Score 5 out of 5 Great price for the location Virginia, 2007-02-06 Dress comfortable w/walking shoes for daytime sightseeing and shopping, but allow yourself to bring your heels and dancing shoes too. If you get a suite, make yourself at home and budget for grocery shopping to cook in the kitchenet. Have fun.WooGoo Midtown Manhatten: The benefit of staying at Woo Goo was that it allowed all six of us (four teenagers)to be near TimeSquare, one block from Letterman,a few blocks from NBC and MTV studios, all the stores, on a busline, near subways to everywhere, Starbucks on every corner, convenient to local markets and pharmacy. Its location is just awesome. Well, we had rented one of their suites for three nights for a very fair price. We saved a bit by buying groceries at the local markets that have the best foods, especially in the deli. Staying at WooGoo you are very near some fun restaraunts, pizza, deli, mexican, indian, chinese, all sorts of ethnic food restaraunts are right down the block. Remember I said fair, price. It is being remodeled, so it really doesn't look at its best, but I didn't see any friendly (or unfriendly) creatures even so much as lurking around, it is clean. The were having elevator trouble while we were there. We did have to make one trip down and 1 trip up 17 flights of stairs. I did fine going down, even had fun racing the kids, but going up after walking all day - ok, I had seriously trouble doing that. The staff, they seemed to be busy reading at the front desk, but some of us don't like annoying help all the time either. I liked being able to be noticed, but not hasseled. Its New York, yes there was some noise of the horns honking, the hussle and bussel of cars, the sirens, the voices, but not ever having visited New York before made experiencing all this at WooGoo that much more fun for all of us.The People VERY NICE AND FRIENDLY...especially those living at Woo Goo. Ask anyone a question about anything New York and they are always happy to answer and help you get to where you want to be to see what you want to see to do what you want to do. Score 5 out of 5 Great location!!!!! SUSAN, 2007-02-05 Short walk to Broadway shows!!!!!The Woogo Encore was a great value, and it was centrally located to the N.Y. hot spots. It is only a few blocks from Times Square and it is in the Theatre district, key for me!!! Central Park is only a few blocks away too. I liked the separate bedroom and the kitchen area helped to keep the food cost down while we were there.I would and will stay there again!! Score 4 out of 5 Great location colleen, Salt Lake City, UT, 2007-02-04 Metro stop is only three streets away. The Wogoo Encore is in a very convenient location for Broadway shows, restaurants, and shopping. It is close to a metro stop. The rooms were sufficient for the time we spent in them. It is a no-frills apartment, but was expected for the price we paid. It really shouldn't have a 3-star rating. The three bedroom apartment has 2 bathrooms which was great for everyone getting ready at the same time. I was disappointed that they charged $5 per suitcase to store them when we checked out while we were waiting for our evening flight. Score 5 out of 5 Good Bargain Anonymous, 2007-02-04 Some great Broadway shows are nearby. Also David Letterman's studio for his show and the Hello Deli are just one block away. The Woogo was definitely a budget hotel. I was in New york with a friend for a short amount of time and our room was perfect for what we needed. You get what you pay for. We saved a ton of money by staying here versus the other midtown hotels. There was no maid service and the room had only the essentials. I did like the kitchen because we were able to have breakfast in the morning before we left our room. The location was the biggest perk. It is a short walk to the theater district. |
