Celebrating its 100th anniversay, the Wolcott Hotel as the look of a grand European hotel. The lobby is restored to it Louis 16 Styling. Plus many of guest rooms retain there own 1904 architectural details. But, all the rooms have modern conveniences like, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, clock radio, Internet access and voicemail. Located in the heart of New York City, 3 blocks south of the Empire State Building along 5th Ave, makes the hotel convenient to all of New York City's world famous sites.
Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 RENOVATIONS Teresa, Durham/Raleigh, NC Dunkin Donuts across the street. The hotel was going under renovations which in and as itself was a unconvenience. The water temperature was hard to adjust. The room temperature was hard to adjust. We had guest and everyone said it was too warm. The staff let us move into a refurished room for our misfortune, however, the water and room temperatures was still a problem. Door Men? Where's the Door Men? Nope, no door men. The hotel desk staff just watched as the doors and suitcases, that belonged to myself and my handicapp mother, beat me to death. If I had known what I was getting for my money I would have stayed somewhere else. Score 4 out of 5 Pleasantly surprised Anonymous, Dallas, TX Korea Town as it was called by a local Macy's and lots of shoppingI expected a room the size of a closet with no hot water, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a very well-kept, spacious room that was absolutely perfect. The staff was amazingly polite, the location is within walking distance of the Empire State Building and Penn Station (if you're accustomed to doing a bit of walking like I am), and though there's a charge for wireless internet within the hotel, I could get free Wi-Fi signals in my room. The only thing that I could complain about is that there was some sort of construction outside of my window. Score 4 out of 5 good location Anonymous Empire state building and typical midtown sites. Our stay was fine. The building was very old and in need of some repair. the staff was helpful. Score 5 out of 5 Nice Clean Rooms; nice staff. Eric, Montgomery, AL The Hotel Wolcott is on West 31st street, which is in the heart of Mid-town Manhatton, literally within walking distance of the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Times Square and Broadway. When they say they're located in Mid-town, they mean it.The Hotel Wolcott is a great bargain for any tourist visiting New York City. The rooms were very clean, and cleaned daily. The hotel is very old, and it shows, but that's really part of its charm. It's not big on amenities, but it's New York City, and who really wants to stay in their hotel room except to sleep and clean up? The hotel staff was beyond nice, and went out of their way to be helpful. It's by no means a perfect building: we got stuck in the elevator--but the staff promptly got us out--and were nice about it even when I was cursing them. So, really, even if the elevators are a bit unreliable, if you have to get stuck in an elevator, get stuck at the Hotel Wolcott. They'll be nice about it, even when you curse them. And I'll be back next month. It's charming, like I said. Score 5 out of 5 excellent location Anonymous, Washington, DC The Wolcott hotel is in an excellent location, less than half a block from 5th Ave, a few blocks from Empire State Building, a few blocks from Madison Square Garden, a few blocks to Penn Station, a few blocks from Subway and half a block to bus-stops. I just found that it was easy to get around from the Wolcott. Only disadvantage is that the sign for the Wolcott is small. The location made is very easy for us to get around and we didn't have to spend money on taxis. Score 5 out of 5 Review Anonymous No review provided by user Score 2 out of 5 Convenient Location Anonymous, Dallas, TX, 2007-03-11 Since this hotel is smack in the middle of Tourist Central, prices will be higher.Warning, avoid the Subway/Dunkin Donuts shop at the corner on 5th. They inflate their prices more than most franchises. Walk a little further east or south and maybe into little Korea near Herald Square for good , affordable eats. The Wolcott Hotel is located in a very convenient location. The staff was fine and check in was quick and easy. The room was small and sufficient for our needs. However,we had a terrible night's sleep because the heater came on in the middle of the night and made a huge amount of clanking noise throughout the night. I doubt that the staff could have done anything about it. They would to replace the central heating in this old hotel. On a brighter note, the breakfast was ok and it was free.. something one rarely gets in the City for this price. Score 5 out of 5 Comfy place Monica, Los Angeles, CA, 2007-03-10 If you're hungry and just want something quick to eat in your room, there's a 24hr cafe that sells everything you would need just around the corner on 5th Ave and 30th. Life saver! We had never been to NYC and didn't know exactly where the hotel would be. Turns out it was really close to everything. We were very pleased overall with the hotel. The staff was alright I suppose, could have been friendlier but hey, I never really talked to them anyway. Didn't really have the need to, everything went smooth. Score 5 out of 5 My review of Wolcott Hotel Lei, Las Vegas, NV, 2006-12-20 Empire State Bldg is just next door. Time square is one subway ride away and so is downtown China Town and WTC.Staffs are very friendly and accomodating. The room is very comfortable and the most important thing of all is that the hotel has a great location which is just 2 minutes away from the Empire STate Bldg and a minute away from the Subway. Used Taxi only once and the rest of our four days are all subways which saved us a lot of money. Subway system in New York is so awesome that you can go anywhere using this transportation service at a shorter time, considering the traffic in New York. Score 2 out of 5 Great Location, but that's about it... Neely, Atlanta, GA, 2006-12-18 Ask the check-in staff to place you in a room that is not near a lift or has pipes that make horrendous sounds at night!OK, granted we stayed the weekend before Xmas and the price per night was sky-high everywhere we looked! Lobby is amazing check-in efficient. Once we squeezed into the lift to our floor, room 601 at first I thought we reached a broom cupboard as there was no room to swing a cat in there! But alas, I was mistaken and it was our room! I wandered about the noise due to close proximity of the lift but that thought drifted off... That night we went to bed to be rudely awaken by what sounded like a pack of rats scratching at the radiator pipes! We ended up having to kick the pipe which seems like the only thing to do to make the sound stop! This happened 3 times that I know of as anything after that is a blurr! The next morning I was so sleep deprived that my day of sightseeing and seeing New York was ruined. A good nights sleep is important to me and this was no way to start my holiday... We spoke to the front desk about our experience to which we were told 'what do you expect, the hotel is over 100 years old' I was a little disappointed by this response but didn't have the energy to argue with the chap. We were given another room. |
