Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Great location Kelli Spcie market was a few short blocks away. Great ambiance and excellent food. This was s very contemporary hotel in a trendy area. In the neighborhood were great restaurants (Spcie Market) and clubs (Lotus). Room soemwhat small, but typical for NYC. Staff helpful and friendly. Score 2 out of 5 Nice Location, but... Dana, 2006-08-20 The Hotel Gansevoort is located in a great spot! You are walking distance from all the hot spots in the Meatpacking District. Our bath tub/shower didn't drain well. We called downstairs our 1st morning to tell maintenance and they said someone would be up to fix it. They never came and my frind took a pretty serious slip and hurt herself in the shower the last day of our stay. Good thing were both relatively healthy. If it had been someone older, they probably would have been seriously hurt. The Gansevoort is not worth the hype! Score 5 out of 5 great location rose, 2006-08-20 great location, beautiful neighborhood, great shopping and restuarants, perfect place to come back to after dinner and hang at the bar. Score 5 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2006-08-13 The cafe across the street offers great food for Breakfast lunch and dinner.Score 4 out of 5 Most hip, popular boutique NYC hotel right now Anonymous, Washington, DC, 2006-05-29 In addition to nightclubs, SoHo and the Village are a short walk and short subway stop away. Close to the Hudson river too.Hotel Gansevoort - it's mostly a type of hotel to see and be seen at. The location and posh pool is pretty much the reason I stayed during memorial day weekend. It's very comfortable, the staff is very friendly and the location is very hot right now (near cute cafes and within walking distance to trendy nightclubs). But I wouldn't make it my usual place to stay at in NYC - it's not worth the money. The rooms are teeny and the bathrooms are not impressive at all. However, I would definitely recommend a one-time visit here to get the trendy, NYC experience, if you're interested in that. Score 4 out of 5 EXPENSIVE Franklin, Orange County, CA, 2006-04-02 great restaurants in the district all within 5 minutes walk. great atmosphere.Another "Boutique" type Hotel with a staff that has an attitude. They don't own the place nor designed it. Public spaces are so so at best. Rooms are OK although the bed could be more comfortable. But great location for a night out in lower Manhattan (Meat Packing district, Greenwich and not far fro SOHO). Score 5 out of 5 Trendy Hot Spot Anonymous, 2006-02-15 This is the hottest, trendiest hotel in manhattan. Staff is friendly, especially considering you are in new york city. Hotel is also in the hottest nightlife area in all of manhattan! Score 5 out of 5 What a great experience......such a neat hotel. Mary, Alexandria, 2005-09-28 Right next door, great restaurant. One.I was impressed by the decor. The entire experience was a joy. Nice change from a Marriott. Score 5 out of 5 Hotel Gansevoort Michael, Los Angeles, CA, 2005-03-21 For me, it's all about location, and the Gansevoort really couldn't be more ideally situated (for me, of course). It's just north of the West Village where many of my friends live and it's just east of the Hudson River and the excellent bike path and recreational facilities. And many of my favorite restaurants are within easy walking distance. The rooms are nicely (sparsely) decorated - and all of the amenities actually work, including wireless Internet at no additional charge. I guess the rooftop pool is a big scene and there are lots of people clamoring around the lobby, especially on the weekend: it's not for me, but people obviously like it and the hotel manages the crowd so that I never felt like increased traffic was an imposition. In the morning, they convert the restaurant into a breakfast buffet. It's convenient, but nothing spectacular and there are many better options to choose from in the immediate neighborhood. The prices are reasonable relative to other New York hotels with similar facilities. I would definitely stay there again, provided that they don't jack up the prices too much - the Four Seasons it's not! |
