Dylan, a 107-room hotel with style, located in the former Chemists' Club building is setting the standard for contemporary elegance. Dylan's interiors, by Jeffrey Beers, mark a deliberate departure from both the too stark and overly hip designs prevalent in the high-end boutique market. Beers has created a timeless look for the property that redefines opulence for a new age while preserving the landmark-quality architecture of the 1903 Beaux-Arts structure. The hotel features rich tones like amethyst, jade, emerald, opal and amber. Fabrics are soft and luxurious. The grandeur of the Dylan's public areas is evident from the moment one passes through the entryway.
Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 trying to be too much, with too little Anonymous the Dylan, was not as nice as i thought it was going to be for the price. we stayed over new year's eve, so of course the price was up there, but as far as the room goes, not nearly big enough for the price. the staff was great, very friendly, and helpful. the room was really small, maybe 275 sq. feet max. no bath tub, and our view was that of the wall of anther building. i would say it's NYC shiek (sp?), probably won't stay there again. it was within walking distance to times square (about 5 blocks), and grand central station (one block). the hotel resuraunt was very pricey, about 60 dollars per person, but very good service. Score 4 out of 5 great location Anonymous, Phoenix, AZ short walk to just about anything....grand central station is right around the corner...so you have access to subways/trains.great location! very friendly staff! Score 5 out of 5 qiuiet and efficient Roger, Fayetteville, AR Two blocks from the Dylan is a great Italian Restaurant with real style: Salute. The Dylaln is just off Park Avenue and is a moderate walk from Broadway. This is my first boutique hotel stay and it is definitely the way to go. So quiet and orderly and personalized. The place was really designed, one of a kind, not stamped out of the current big hotel mold and it is beautiful. No waiting for anything and no rush of people. The elevator was always there when we wanted it. The restaurant was great and the service exceptional. Wonderful value for the money. I will definitely stay at the Dylan next time I'm in town. Score 5 out of 5 Great Size Room Anonymous Take a bike cab(be brave)to Times Square/Broadway if you are going to a show. They don't charge and only work for tips, but walk back to the hotel (only 20 min. fr Gershwin) to see all the lights of Times Square. The hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding streets and gave good direction to get around on foot. The bathroom was clean and characteristic, and the room was big for NY and the bed was very comfortable. Just so happened to be there when they were doing constuction right in front of the hotel, but wasn't the hotel's fault. Walked everywhere but it was easy enough to pick up a cab if needed. Bonus, they were happy to hold our suitcases after checkout, because we were touring all day and taking a later train home. Restuarant is pricey, didn't eat there but there are coffee shops and sushi places right around the corner. Score 5 out of 5 My review of Dylan Hotel Anonymous, Milwaukee, WI The Dylan Hotel staff were personable, friendly, approachable and very helpful. As I entered and left the hotel, I was always greeted by name. When there was a threat of rain, an umbrella was offered for the day. The room was comfortable and clean with a spacious bathroom. The location was perfect; close to the train station and restaurants. Score 5 out of 5 Great for business or holiday Anonymous, Seattle, WA It's a short walk to anything from the Dylan. Grand Central Station is about 1.5 blocks away, if you'd prefer to ride the rails, or just want to hang out in the station (recommended). The Dylan hotel was extremely classy with tons of character, and not pricey. The rooms are well appointed and play off the 'Chemist' theme, as the hotel used to be called the 'Chemist Club'. Score 5 out of 5 Great night 's sleep laurie, Pittsburgh, PA The beds were very comfortable, even the pullout couch. Great location on a quiet street. Only negative was the bathroom needed more shelf space. Would definitely consider staying at the Dylan again. Score 5 out of 5 Nice hotel for a weekend stay Terri, Chicago, IL If you're in the market for terrifc men's clohtes at a good price try Britches on Madison, a block from the Dylan hotel. The Dylan Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. The room was a nice size with a great matress. There was a nice service bar and a coffee maker in the room, which saved my husband a trip to Starbucks. My only complaint would be that the room was rather chilly. There was a draft and the heat just wasn't hot enough. The location was great for shopping on Madison and 5th Ave. Score 4 out of 5 Where's the window? Anonymous, Pittsburgh, PA, 2007-03-04 The New York City Library and Bryant Park are only a block away. Same for Grand Central Station. Good locationNice room. Small but some nice touches, like a split of wine, and nice linens, but there's really no window. What would be a window only looked into a shaft and had translucent glass, so rather than having that in the room, the whole window was covered in fabric. Room without a window doesn' work for me. Score 4 out of 5 Nice Hotel Anonymous, Chicago, IL, 2006-12-29 Very touristy areaNice typical New York style, modern boutique hotel, very cute but the room was very hot, and even after we switched it was very uncomfortable. We could not open our windows because our view was directly into an office building so we had to keep our drapes draws. Otherwise it would have been very nice. |
