Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Value for money and friendly Anonymous, New York, NY, 2007-03-07 A short walk across Time Square will take you to St. Andrews pub (on 44th between 6th and 7th), NYC's only Scotish pub with excellant food, friendly Scot and Irish bartenders, and a great selection of beers, wines, and whisky (of course). NYC at its best...The room I stayed in was very small. However, it was clean and for the price I paid, especially given the hotel's proximity to Times Square, it was a good value for money. The staff were helpful and friendly. The lobby was a bit cramped, amenitites were none-exitant, and the bar was not enticing. But then again, I wasn't in NYC to spend time in a hotel lobby. Within a short walk are many attractions and restaurant / bar options. This hotel is not for the business traveller looking for a lot of amenities, although I did have free wi-fi access (unlike some of the more expensive hotels I have stayed in). But if you're keen to have a centrally-located, decent, clean room to stay in for a few days without having to pay high Manhattan hotel rates, this is a good option. Overall, a good place to stay in mid-town Manhattan for foreign travellers or budget-minded business people. Score 5 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2007-03-02 Many restaurants on 8th and 9th Avenuesgood value; good location Score 4 out of 5 Review Anonymous, Mexico City, 2007-03-01 You can walk to the theatersScore 1 out of 5 Review Jeffrey, Chicago, IL, 2007-02-26 Borders at Madison Square GardenThe hotel room had hair on the floor and in the bathtub. The only toiletries were 2 bars of soap. The alarm clocks were broken. 2 replacements malfunctioned and kept resetting to a flashing 12:00. The radiator grid was gone and the tv remote had no battery cover and the only compensation I was offered was a free continental breakfast including watery orange juice, stale pastries and mushy apples. When I called the hotel manager he said I could not be moved and the breakfast was free to me for the messy room. Anonymous, New York, NY, 2007-02-26 For great dessert there is an awesome place called My Most Fravorite Food. There cakes are to die for. This was my first time at a Best Western and I have a good time. The location is great if you enjoy city life. It is walking distance from some of the best food around. The front desk and housekeeping people were a little unfriendly but you are not there for them. The room was comfortable and the hotel was generally very quiet and well kept. Score 4 out of 5 good value for your money Kelly, 2007-02-22 You are virtually in the theatre district. There are several chain restaurants nearby and a small restaurant about 5 blocks up from the hotel that serves a good meal for a reasonable price. There are several stores within a couple of blocks and Time Square is a short walk from the hotel. The Best Western was very clean. I was surprised at how relatively quiet it was. We were pleased with the general location in relation to all of the places we planned to visit. It is centrally located in the theatre district. There are a lot of good restaurants within a few blocks and time square was literally around the corner. The only thing I really would complain about was that I wanted to ask a question of the woman sitting at the information who was eating her soup - I was informed not politely that she was on break and couldn't help me. I asked my question at the check-in desk and quess who had to be asked my question. I commented that she was on break and not to be disturbed and the gentleman was nice enough to ask another associate. I truly felt that I had been TOLD - The room although small was comfortable. Score 4 out of 5 Wonderful Hotel Except . . . . . . . . Kenneth, 2007-02-15 We're talking mid-town Manhattan. If you can dream it up, you probably can find it here. Restaurants, sports venues, shopping theatre - all world class! If you haven't been in the City for a while, give it a go. New York has a wonderful feel and attitude about it.The Best Western President on 48th Street in New York City has many things going for it. It's largest selling point is location if you're a theatre goer as I am. Although the rooms are more of a size one would find in Europe than the U.S. they were very clean. The staff was efficient and friendly which means a lot to me when I travel. On the negative side, my matress was far too soft but the main problem was my room location. I'll know better next time and possibly save you some problems before you book a room there yourself. My head board was against a wall with an elevator shaft directly on the other side. Shafts can be noisy animals that tend to bump and thud and generally make it tought to fall asleep. The usage ususally subsided by 2 A.M. but I didn't feel as though I should have had to endure it. I filled out the hotel questionairre and left it at the desk at check out. I addressed the very situation listed above and asked to be contacted but never heard from them. Bottom line? I'll stay there again because of their staff but ask some pertinant questions about my room assignment before hand! Score 4 out of 5 A Good Buy Mary, 2007-02-14 There's an Olive Garden a block away....Should be a good stop for families.I usually stay at expensive hotels.....But this was cheap, adequate (business), and great location for me.......It was hard to get cabs in terrible weather, and I was able to walk to my business commitments.....The TV worked, the bed was OK, and the bath adequate. It was plenty warm......I wouldn't stay there on a pleasure trip, but my go back on a business trip.....THE FOOD AT THE VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT WAS AWFUL........... Score 5 out of 5 Convenient to everything Barbara, Richmond, VA, 2007-02-12 Lots of shopping and resturants were close by. We walked to Madison Square Gardens for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. It was a nice walk. You could take the subway if you prefer. The Best Western President Hotel was comfortable. The room was much smaller than we are use to, but adequate for the time we spent in the room. We enjoyed our short stay. Check in went very fast. Hotel was very helpful. The young woman sitting at the concierge desk was not familiar with the type of resturants near by. The day we checked out, we checked our bags for the day. That went very smooth as well as arranging transportation to the airport. |
