In the heart of the stylish Upper East Side sits Lyden Gardens, a quiet and elegant retreat. Within easy walking distance of some of New York's most exclusive boutiques, art galleries and restaurants, Lyden Gardens is a popular destination for leisure and international travelers. The hotel has the feeling of a private Manhattan residence and private patios are featured in several suites.Affinia Hotels are Affinia Fresh, all rooms are now non-smoking. Isn't that a breath of fresh air? A $250 penalty will be assessed for anyone found in violation of the non-smoking policy.

Subways to the westside (F train is a block away) Eastside Downtown a little farther at 59th but a nice walk.Very clean and comfortable. Nicely located for transportation without having to be in midtown. The rooms are new and clean and the beds very comfortable with down tops. It's my new place to stay in NY until it gets discovered and too expensive. Score 5 out of 5 Great location, HUGE room! Anonymous, Columbus, OH There are many small restaraunts, diners and bakeries on 2nd and 1st Avenues, with a few also on Lexington.Affinia Gardens is in a wonderful location - Upper East side - very close to 3 subway lines, a short walk to Central Park, and in a posh residential neighborhood. This hotel is rather pricey, but worth it in comfort. The rooms are twice the size of "normal" New York City hotels with a usable kitchen and large bathroom. The beds are the best I've slept in, and the area is quiet - not much street noise. I liked the vanity with a stool and a lighted mirror in the bedroom (not in the bathroom.) There are many small local restaurants in the area with wonderful food. My favorite bakery, the Bread Factory, is a couple blocks down Lexington Ave. The hotel is close to Madison and Fifth Ave. shops (including Bloomingdale's) or if you're on a budget, 3rd Ave. shops. Parking is reasonable through the hotel. Score 5 out of 5 Ideal for this traveler Anonymous, 2006-06-23 1st class restaurants on every block in this neighborhood it seems, and check out the Gourmet Garage grocery store one block east for picnics or in-room treats. The renovated hotel is serene and minimalist, the staff was always charming and welcoming, the room (a junior king suite) enormous, and the neighborhood ideal. There is no in-house restaurant, but tons of great restaurants and food markets and lots of other shopping within a very brief stroll. Parking was very convenient and a bargain. The subway is only a few blocks away (at Bloomingdales!--did I mention the shopping?). The little kitchenette was handy for keeping a light breakfast at hand and had equipment to cook & serve a meal if you want. There's a full-size closet, a vanity, a dresser, a comfortable sofa, a desk, lots of pillows--like having a private apartment for our stay. We are not heavy users of in-room service, but given how friendly the staff were on all occasions, I suspect it would be more than satisfactory. The room was quite quiet (we were on the 8th floor in the back)--a bit of traffic noise could be heard during the morning rush, but it would only bother a very sensitive guest. Score 5 out of 5 A relaxing hotel Anonymous, Columbia, SC, 2006-03-26 It is several blocks from Central Park South. This hotel is located one block from where my daughter lives. It is a comfortable, relaxing place. I'd be happy to return to this hotel on my next visit to Manhattan. Score 5 out of 5 Great Alternative Ancil, Charleston, WV, 2006-02-09 If you don't mind a short walk, you can easily walk down 65th Street street straight through Central Park to the Upper West Side.Affinia Gardens is a great alternative. It is located in a relatively quiet, mostly residential area in the Upper East Side. It is conveniently located near Central Park and the Lexington Avenue Metro station. The room was spacious by New York standards, with the bonus of a small kitchen. The restaurants in New York are marvelous, but after a few days, it is nice to have a snack in your room. There is no restaurant on site, but dozens in easy walking distance. The staff was very friendly and very responsive. The room was clean and well-appointed. The bed was very comfortable and, with a thermostat, it was easy to keep the room at a very comfortable temperature. Because the hotel is located in a mostly residential area, it was comparatively quiet. The next time I go to New York, I will definitely stay at Affinia Gardens. Score 5 out of 5 Perfect For A Group Kathy, Orange County, CA, 2005-11-13 Central Park is a 10 to 15 minute walk with lots of cute shops along the way.I went to New York to visit my daughter and brought four girlfriends. The hotel was great! There was plenty of room and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.. They let us check our bags in early so we could go on a tour, they held our bags and arranged a limo to take us to the airport when we checked out. Any request was granted quickly and with a follow up call. I would definately stay there again. |
