Also a lot of shopping available in the LaFonda itself. The LaFonda Hotel was a very charming place. The first room they offered us was very small and a little dirty. They transferred us to a room with a King Size Bed and that room was nice. The room was small but very Antique Spanish style. Easy access to Old Town and many restaurants. Food was excellent. It was overall an enjoyable stay once we finally got settled in. Score 5 out of 5 Great staff Anonymous, San Jose, CA, 2005-07-31 Bandelier: Allow a generous half day for the drive, exploration of the caves; moderately strenuous. Abique/Ghost Ranch following a visit to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum: Allow a generous half day for all 3. Children's Museum: many activities, well suited for children under 10yrs (older children move through quickly and are ready to leave)(This was the first visit to Santa Fe for my eleven year old granddaughter and I wanted this to be a memorable experience - one that would have her asking to return to Santa Fe. La Fonda provided the perfect setting for our visit.) The property itself is wonderful with its authentic Southwestern style and proximity to the Plaza. The entire staff, from the waitpersons to the garage attendent, is what makes La Fonda an outstanding experience. My granddaughter's review: "I was treated like an important person and they have the best guacamole in the world." We plan to return next year! Score 2 out of 5 La Fonda seen better days Katherine, Denver, CO, 2005-07-18 The La Fonda Hotel, centrally located to the plaza in Santa Fe, was the site of my grandparents honeymoon. Maybe it was the nostalga of staying somewhere so historic, but the quaintness soon gave way to a horific dining experience, a tired room they tried to jazz up with decorative paint, and a tiny pool. The best part, the parking, but they failed to tellyou it is $10 a day on top of the room rate. Checkout the Waterstreet Inn, where your $ is better spent.
