The staff were polite and courteous and our stay was delightful. Score 2 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2006-10-13 Blue Corn Brewery - good food! The bed was uncomfortable and hard as a rock. AND they charged me an extra 8 dollars to park there. UNBELIEVABLE! UNHAPPY WITH EXPERIENCE. Won't be back. Score 5 out of 5 Perfect location - Good Price Michael, Denver, CO, 2006-10-09 All the plaza stores. Downtown Santa Fe.3 blocks from plaza. Well monitored parking. No cost wireless. Coffee needs some work. Score 1 out of 5 Review Laura, Washington, DC, 2006-09-20 The Zodiac bakery has limited hours it is open. There is no onsite gym. Also, the parking wasn't free - it was $8 a day. There is no in-room internet access - only weak wireless in lobby. It is a convenient walk to the little visitor area in Santa Fe, but you would be better off staying at a less expensive place with better amenities on the commerical strip and then paying the $8 / day to park there, since you have to pay it anyway. The only selling point for this place would be location and they ruin it by charging for parking. Score 5 out of 5 cant beat the price or the location MICHAEL, 2006-06-05 Leave the car parked at the hotel. everything in the historic downtown area was in walking distanceGarretts Desert Inn Santa Fe was the deal of the century! It is the only affordable, basic accomodation within walking distance of the historic city center with it's restaurants, shopping and the quaint square, two great restaurants are right across the street!..... For that alone I highly recommend this accomodation. The rooms are spotless a bit sparce and a little on the "kitchy" "retro","motor inn" side of things, beds were slightly uncomfortable yet tolerable and there is no business center. Garretts also has a nice outdoor pool, a poolside bar area and just opened restaurant (although we didnt use them), they have lots of parking and a nice touch was the flower boxes brimming with lovely flowers on the upper floor railing. All the amenities and common spaces definately looked clean and inviting. So if your looking for a great price, convenience and a no nonsense practical place to stay for your visit to Santa Fe this is the place. Score 1 out of 5 Needs major improvement Anonymous, 2006-05-12 The Inn of Loretto is across the steet and has wonderful patio dining, all three meals.Hotel is very dated, carpet was old and filthy, stained...absolutely gross accomodations. Will not recommend it nor ever stay there again. Score 5 out of 5 Great value Anonymous, Tampa, FL, 2006-04-17 Two wonderful small cafes directly across the street, just perfect for morning coffee. The Garrett Desert Inn is the best kept secret in Santa Fe. Comfortable, spacious, and a short walk to the Plaza. An outstanding value for the price. Will most definitely return. With a broadband internet connection it would be too good to be true. It has none at the moment. Score 5 out of 5 Great location, great rooms, great place to stay on a budget Erin, Salt Lake City, UT, 2006-03-16 On the corner of Old Santa Fe and Alameda there is a cute coffee shop with great, cheap breakfast burritos and a couple of blocks down on Alameda there is a cute dark pub with fabulous $5 entrees and 5.50 margaritas served with a glass and full shaker, but I can't recall the name at the moment. :)Garretts Desert Inn was a terrific value for the money. The inn is centrally located and within easy walking distance of downtown Santa Fe as well as the Canyon Road galleries. The restaurant/bar was being renovated during our trip unfortunately but even without that and with cold weather than made a dip in the nice, deep pool beyond consideration, I was very pleased with the cleanliness, how quiet it was, how friendly the staff was, and the additional surprise that the daily $8 parking fee was included in the price. I would recommend this inn to anyone looking for something without frills but at a great price. Score 5 out of 5 Review Patrick, San Francisco, CA, 2006-02-15 many galleries and shopsScore 2 out of 5 Close to Plaza, But No Bells and Whistles Bill, Albuquerque, NM, 2006-02-11 Bring your walking shoes and save on the frustration of parking meters and parking spots. If you don't care about comfort and money is an object, then this is the place for you. Great proximity to Old Santa Fe and Plaza, but room comfort was minimal. Furniture needs updating and bed was okay. Lots of hot water though!!! Rooms are not spacious unless you get a suite. |
