Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Review Greg, Austin, TX No review provided by user Score 4 out of 5 Great location & space; could be cleaner Susan, 2007-02-20 It's an easy 10-minute walk down to the Plaza, but be prepared to walk straight up when returning, as it is all uphill going back.Fort Marcy Hotel and Suites has a wonderful view of the entire Santa Fe area and surrounding mountain ranges. We had a premium 2BR 2BA suite with a nice little living area and a small kitchen. It was great for traveling with a friend but having your own space. Because these are actually privately-owned condos, however, in addition to the nightly room rate we paid $10/day hospitality charge for which we had someone come in, empty the trash, make the bed (more or less), and replace (sometimes) any towels that we had thrown on the floor. We didn't feel that our accomodations were particularly clean when we arrived, and they certainly did no cleaning in the 5 days that we were there. So, we had much better space and views than you would get in a comparably-priced hotel, an easy walk to the Plaza (though the return trip is entirely uphill), but housekeeping was definitely lacking. Score 4 out of 5 Great condo, poor facilities upkeep! Diane, San Jose, CA, 2007-02-19 We really loved the appearance and comfort of the accomodations at Fort Marcy Hotel Suites. It was more like an apartment with great southwestern decor than a hotel, and the location was great with the shuttle into town, but the pool was so scuzzy that we had to clean it before anyone could go in and the jets in the hot tub didn't work at all. The continental breakfast consisted of coffee, juice and dry sweet rolls and muffins. We would recommend this location to anyone who wasn't interested in using the recreational facilities or breakfast offering. Score 4 out of 5 very nice for family hun, 2006-12-28 avery things are nearby.Score 1 out of 5 Not very well maintained Sally, Baltimore, MD, 2006-11-26 Ft. Marcy Hotel Suites is a great location for the price, but depending on where your suite is located it is 3-4 uphill blocks from the EDGE of old town . Our suite left a lot to be desired. For example, in one of the bathrooms someone had carved their initials in the side of the vanity (easily fixed with a coat of paint), there was a hole cut in the bed room wall to accomodate the doorknob(also easily remedied with a floor door stopper) The jacuzzi did not work, no one knew how to fix it and maintainence never returned a phone call. "Breakfast" consisted of danish that were still frozen, and soggy muffins - there was a $10.00 "hospitality" fee for breakfast & the jacuzzi! The remote for the TV didn't work and no one seemed to know what to do. they gave me a handful of batteries (this was not the problem)and was never resolved for our entire stay. When you opened the dishwasher door, the entire dishwasher came out. The staff was friendly but seemed to lack the resources to address any problems. They did allow a 2 hour late check on on our departure date. Score 5 out of 5 Excellent value Larry, Albuquerque, NM, 2006-10-28 You can get fast delivery from a wide variety of restaurants without ever leaving the property. We wanted a fun and different place to go, not too far from home, and this was exactely what we got. Indoor pool, hot tub, two bedroom suite with fireplace, it was everything we looked for. If you didn't know better, you would think it was out in the country somewhere, instead of downtown Santa Fe. Score 4 out of 5 Great Place Martha, San Jose, CA, 2006-10-23 Santa Fe has everything: scenery, shopping, hiking opportunities, history, culture, and great dining. We were thrilled to be there. It's a great property Score 4 out of 5 Charming locale and furnishings Anonymous, Austin, TX, 2006-08-20 The plaza is a pleasant walk away and has absolutely fabulous American Indian rugs, baskets, jewelry, pottery. In almost every price range.Because we were attending the Santa Fe Indian Market it was important that we be near down town. The location was excellent for that purpose. We enjoyed the walk to the square. The rooms were charmingly furnished with appropriate regional art and amenities. The ravine on the property provided feeling of being "in the country" including a deer which ate and watched us approach. Score 5 out of 5 A Unique Santa Fe Hotel Anonymous, 2006-07-07 Within walking distance from the hotel is the Santa Fe Plaza which features the historical architecture and ambiance of its Spanish Colonial and Old West past. The streets on and around the plaza feature all manner of local historic, museum, art gallery, shopping and dining opportunities to please most everyone's interests. The Fort Marcy Suites offers apartment style accommodations rather than the typical single hotel-motel room. The room featured a comfortable living room with sleeper sofa, a small, yet fully appointed galley kitchen, standard bathroom, a bedroom with a comfortable king size bed and a full size closet and suitcase stand. Televisions with cable service were located in the living and bedroom. Each apartment has a small covered porch area allowing pleasant outdoor seating opportunities. All areas were very clean. The buildings are small clusters built in the adobe style which are located on a rather steep street on the northeast corner of the historic part of town. The grounds are landscaped with juniper, pinon pine, flowering sage and favorite colorful flowering annual plants which add to immersing oneself into the local ambiance of Santa Fe. Parking is somewhat inconvenient with one lot located midway up the street and another lot located at the upper part of the property on the top of the hill. The view of the mountains from the upper lot was terrific. Parking on the street near your group of apartments appeared to be allowed. It is about a 10-15 minute walk into the heart of town which is the Santa Fe Plaza. The streets into town from the hotel are moderately steep and can cause one to experience some shortness of breath until one becomes acclimated to the town's higher general altitude. The walk through this part of town gives one a true feel for the more residential side of Santa Fe featuring older adobe homes with colorful gardens. A delightful feature of Fort Marcy Suites was the indoor lap pool. The hotel also featured a complimentary, delicious breakfast bar in a clean, well maintained dining area with a view of the indoor pool in the next room. This hotel provided a pleasant, and comfortable home away from home in a most unique vacation destination,. Score 5 out of 5 spacious and gracious Patricia, 2006-06-29 The Plaza shopping area, with restaurants and museums, is just a few short blocks away. There is a free shuttle "on demand" for those who don't care to walk. Our experience at the Fort Marcy Condo - Suites was very positive. The two-bedroom condo was very clean and spacious, and well-equipped with 2 1/2 baths, 3 TVs, and a full kitchen. The location in Santa Fe was very convenient -- a short walk to the Plaza and other areas of interest. The continental breakfast was nicely presented. Hotel personnel were very friendly and accommodating. |
