MAINTENANCE ON THE SCENE RIGHT AWAY.LOUNGE GREAT/ BREAKFAST NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. Score 5 out of 5 Home away from home Anonymous, 2007-03-10 Shopping on the mall is fun.Congress Hall is old and familiar like being at home on a cool summer evening and enjoying the peace. It is beautiful in its simplicity and elegance, a powerful mixture of peace and beauty. The view from the room was breathtaking. The ocean in the distance and a lovely garden directly below made for a spectacular vista of nature. It was everything we had hoped. The live music in the evening was a perfect way to tuck in. This was our first time: love at first sight. Score 5 out of 5 Excellent History Anonymous, Wilmington, DE, 2006-06-23 Although shopping is the most immediate attraction nearby (both in the hotel and within a block as well), there are fantastic restaurants nearby as well.Congress Hall is a historically beautiful hotel, on a great plot of land overlooking both the town of Cape May and the ocean. The rooms are refurbished, but with the same layout and charm of the original hotel rooms. The windowseat and beautiful bathroom were by far the highlights of the room. The location is ideal for all Cape May activities, while giving a wonderful oasis to come to at the end of the day. The complimentary beach service was a delightful surprise and impressive with lounge chairs, towels, umbrellas, and even food services. By far, the Blue Pig Tavern was the best reason to return...the baked blueberry french toast is the best breakfast available, served with fresh muffins and pastries. Highly recommended!! Score 5 out of 5 Modern Amenities, Victorian Style Nicholas, 2006-05-16 Carpenter's Square Mall - an open-air mall with a nice variety of stores & restaurants. Lots of places that have been there for 20 years, as well as some new places to try out.Congress Hall is a hotel we've watched being renovated for the last several years. Ever since it reopened we've been dying to give it a try. It was just as we expected it to be. It has maintained it's Victorian/Edwardian grandeur & atmosphere, but everything else about it convenient & modern & very comfortable. It was a great romantic weekend for us. Score 4 out of 5 good except for renovations Anonymous, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-04-19 The hotel was within walking distance of everything Cape May had to offer. A short drive that took us to the Cape May Lighthouse and Sunset Beach was worth it.The room smelled of paint because (I guess) the room was recently painted. The mirror was still dusty from the paint job. We didn't like that we didn't have a 'do not disturb' sign that we could put outside our door. The hotel staff had a custom of 'turning down our bed' at around 8:30 pm. We declined one night when we were in the room, but the next night when we were out they turned it down. We thought this was an invasion of our privacy. The room also had no bathtub. There might have been a mix up with the room because we first went to another room that wasn't cleaned up yet from previous guest. But the staff was pleasant and friendly and we really enjoyed the location. The workers were very helpfull and greeted you with a friendly helo. They keep the fire place going all day and at night they gave you entertainment Score 5 out of 5 Congress Hall Hotel Alan, Newark, NJ, 2005-12-21 Congress Hall Hotel is an excellent value particularly during the Christmas season.
