Most recent user reviewsScore 2 out of 5 Don't Stay There Anonymous, 2006-08-10 The oceanside rooms have a view of a city owned property which is between the hotel and the beach. You 'may' see the beach if on the top floor. The poolside rooms have a view dominated by a one square block construction staging site and the pool. The road leading to and in front of the hotel is under construction and limited to one narrow lane. The surrounding area of the hotel is either under construction or abandoned and crumbling. The hotel property is clean and maintained. Staff we spoke with were courteous. The room was comfortable. We stayed two nights and we complained at 5 PM on our first day our room was not made up and we needed towels. We were told it would be taken care of. Upon our return at 10 PM the room was still not made up nor were there any towels left for us. The hotel restaurant is not open Mondays and Tuesdays- one of the two days we were there. Score 5 out of 5 The best lodging option in Asbury Park -- a delight! Anonymous, Silver City, NM, 2005-04-10 After having stayed at the decrepit Berkley Carteret (horrible customer service, too -- I wrote a letter of complaint to the manager and never heard back), I thought I'd never be able to visit Asbury Park again. Thank goodness for the Empress!! I not only felt comfortable staying there -- it was an absolute joy. The staff was incredibly kind; the rooms were not only clean but adorable -- I had lots of fun in Asbury Park in general, but my hotel was not only a destination for sleeping, but a destination in and of itself. I can't wait to go back to Asbury Park -- in part, because I can't wait to stay at the Empress again. |
