Mint Museum of Art
With the recently added Dalton Wing, this stately museum displays a fine survey of European and American art, as well as the internationally recognized Delhom Collection of porcelain and pottery. Also featured are pre-Columbian art, contemporary American prints, African objects, vast collections of costumes and antique maps, and gold coins originally minted at the facility. Discovery Place & the Nature Museum
Discovery Place is one of the top hands-on science and technology museums in the region. This uptown center features such permanent exhibits as a tropical rain forest and an aquarium. There's also an OMNIMAX theater. The static-electricity demonstration, which literally makes your hair stand on end, is a perennial favorite. Temporary exhibits on loan from other science centers keep the place forever changing.

Wing Haven Gardens & Bird Sanctuary
Since 1927, one of Charlotte's special attractions, created by Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson, has been a 3-acre enclosed area in the heart of a residential neighborhood. Mrs. Clarkson was known as the city's "bird lady." Some 142 winged species have been sighted in the walled garden, which was once a bare clay field. Birders and garden lovers will have a field day as they browse through the Upper, Lower, Main, Wild, Herb, and Rose gardens. The gardens are at their most splendid in the spring, when birds are returning from their winter migration. A bulletin board tells you which birds are around at the moment.

Knights Inn was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The rug was filthy, the sink was stained with a red substance that I think was blood but I wasn't about to touch it to find out. The sink and the bathtub were both missing the plugs. The blanket had a burn hole in it that still had charring on it. There was no alarm clock. The walls and ceilings were water damaged and bulging. When checking in, no one mentioned any continental breakfast but that was fine because this place was so filthy, I wouldn't eat there anyway. The bathroom floor was so filthy that I wouldn't walk on it. I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me!

Truckers Rest Stop

As soon as my husband and I spotted the Inn from the highway, we immediately recognized that it was located in an undesirable part of town. After pulling into what was considered the driveway we felt a sense of foreboding. The exterior was filthy, and torn drapes were hanging loosely from the window. I would not recommend this "Inn" to anyone.

2 MILE DRIVE

THE KNIGHTS INN WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.THE ROOM FLOOR WAS VERY DAMP ,IT RAINED TWO NIGHTS AND THE CEILING WAS LEAKING ,I TRYED CALLING FRONT DESK NO ONE ANSWERED .THE BATHROOM CEILING HAD MOLD,THE TOWELS WERE DIRTY .THE TV WAS OK .THE BED WAS OK .OVERALL THE ROOM WAS VERY DIRTY AND I WOULD NEVER STAY AGAIN.

SCARY

Upon arrival there was a sign that read For your own safety do not leave your room after 10:00pm. There were homeless people lingering around the outside. The pool was filled with green slime, and part of the hotel was without power.

Stay Away

Close to Airport

We were very disappointed. The only positive was that my 11 and 13 yr old kids got to experience staying at a 'total dive'. I can call that positive only because I very much value experiences (and now we have stories to tell... ) Room was dirty, bathroom VERY dirty, including mold and mildew, neighborhood kind of scary.

Little time spent there

It is only three miles from the airport which was great

The tub and sink had weird discolorations which did not suggest not clean just very very old. We did not want to bathe there. The grout in the tub was very brown. The location was convient but I did not feel safe at all. There was a spent bullet slug in the parking lot by our car . The hotel was alright for what we needed it for though which was just somewhere to sleep while we waited for our flight.

The projects are on either side of the hotel.

I wondered when I booked the room what I was getting. It seemed like a bargain. I just needed a place close to the airport to sleep to catch an early flight in the morning. That is ALL I got. The room was grungy. The linens were changed but the blankets had holes in them. I was worried about how sanitary the blankets and bedspreads were. The carpet was stained if not dirty. There was burnt plastic in the bathroom where someone had started a fire burning a door stop. There was no place on the surrounding streets to find a place for dinner. (I looked for 15 minutes.) It occurred to me this was a stop for construction crews living on a low per diem. The staff was friendly and responsive though.

there are alot of shopping malls and outleys close and alot of resturants close. the thing i liked the best of all was the guard at the gate to make sure you were staying there that was GREAT.

Good room for the price

The Knights Inn that we stayed in was a nice place for the price. I was a little dissapointed in one of the beds which appeared to have stains all over the box springs. The service of the hotel was good, and the check in was smooth. I would stay there again, but in a different room.
