During your Charlotte vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Wing Haven Gardens & Bird Sanctuary
Since 1927, one of Charlotte's special attractions, created by Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson, has been a 3-acre enclosed area in the heart of a residential neighborhood. Mrs. Clarkson was known as the city's "bird lady." Some 142 winged species have been sighted in the walled garden, which was once a bare clay field. Birders and garden lovers will have a field day as they browse through the Upper, Lower, Main, Wild, Herb, and Rose gardens. The gardens are at their most splendid in the spring, when birds are returning from their winter migration. A bulletin board tells you which birds are around at the moment.
Mint Museum of Art
With the recently added Dalton Wing, this stately museum displays a fine survey of European and American art, as well as the internationally recognized Delhom Collection of porcelain and pottery. Also featured are pre-Columbian art, contemporary American prints, African objects, vast collections of costumes and antique maps, and gold coins originally minted at the facility. New galleries exhibit studio glass and pottery from North Carolina studios. An admission ticket also gains you admittance to the Mint Museum of Craft & Design (220 N. Tryon St.).
Discovery Place & the Nature Museum
Discovery Place is one of the top hands-on science and technology museums in the region. This uptown center features such permanent exhibits as a tropical rain forest and an aquarium. There's also an OMNIMAX theater. The static-electricity demonstration, which literally makes your hair stand on end, is a perennial favorite. Temporary exhibits on loan from other science centers keep the place forever changing.

A little seedy

It is very close to the airport and I-85

In spite of some renovations, this particular Days Inn has gone downhill. While the room itself was adequately clean and furnished, the common areas such as the hallway were worn and not particularly clean. For example, during the 3 nights I spent there the hall was never vacuumed and had several wads of chewing gum in the carpet, pieces of paper on the floor, etc. The surroundings didn't make me feel especially safe in this hotel.

we were only in town for a matter of hours. so we didn't need much more then a pillow to rest our heads between flights. This hotel suit our needs just fine.

Nice but needs to lower rates

Anonymous, 2006-12-20

The room was nice but the hallway had a bad smell like a skunk. i know they were remodling and maybe that had something to do with it. Other than that our stay was fine. We also had a smoking room but had no ashtray and had no towels except the small ones.

Very Convenient

Loue, Charlotte, NC, 2006-11-27

This motel is very close to the airport and the coliseum. There are also plenty of dining options and shopping nearby.

The Days Inn Charlotte Airport Coliseum was a very clean, comfortable motel in which to stay. The desk clerk was extremely helpful at our check-in. We had to catch a flight out the next morning. She arranged a shuttle for us to the airport. We were able to leave our car parked at the motel the entire time we were gone at no additional cost. When we returned from our trip, we called for the motel shuttle to come and pick us up. The shuttle arrived at the airport within 15 minutes. The shuttle driver suggested an alternate route to our destination that saved us a lot of driving time. Overall, this was an excellent choice for our trip!

This was a great hotel for the price. Conveniently located near airport and downtown charlotte was only four miles away. Little restaurant options around hotel but overall very good experience.

Excellent stay for less

Bank of America Stadium where the Carolina Panthers play.

This was my first time at the Days Inn. I had an excellent experience. The staff was friendly and the room was very clean. The upkeep was terrific. However, this isn't a five star hotel, the swimming pool was not working and I had a little bit of trouble with the door to get into my room. The door sometimes would get stuck a little. Also I asked for a wake up call and did not receive it. But for the most part it was great. I loved the breakfast in the morning and the accessibility to and from the airport. I would definetly stay here again and recommend it to people looking for a non-expensive hotel to stay in.

Convenient

Anonymous, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-09-25

This was a hotel where you have business to take care of and need a place to stay. They offered free continental breakfast which was good, but don't expect alot. The staff was courteous and freindly. It's close to the airport and the highway.
