However, the hotel room was a disappointment. The room had a slight odor to it, the ironing board was on its last leg, the towels were not soft and the tub had a slight ring around it. Score 1 out of 5 Best Value NOT!!! Robert, 2006-04-03 The Best Value Inn Wilmington, was possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We arrived at 10:00 pm and there was a note on the door saying they were not taking new check ins for 30 min. 30 min turned into an hour. Finally at 11:30 pm we were in our room to find out the bathroom door did not even shut. I had to go back down and stand in line for another 30 min to get a new room. The room were I guess as clean as they could get. The showers were really old and stained. The last night there the light fixture in the bathroom came crashing down. The breakfast consisted of Dunkin Donuts and they ran out of those before we got down there at 9:30. The grounds were dirty and unkept. To say the least I would never stay here again. Score 1 out of 5 No reservation Savitri, Durham/Raleigh, NC, 2005-08-14 It was very easy to get to either Carolina or Wrightsville Beach from this hotel. I would recommend going to Wrightsville in the later afternoon though, because traffic is less congested and it's easier to find a parking space. When I arrived at the hotel, the person checking me in said that there was no reservation for me. I told her I had a confirmation number and she said that it didn't matter. (She never looked at the confirmation number.) They didn't have a reservation, but they could however give me a room at . I told her okay. Then she decided to look through a stack of papers , but their staff failed to put it in the system. She never apologized for the mix up or anything. She said that they were short-staffed when I asked her if this was business as usual for them. She never directed us to our room. We found our room through an unkempt parking lot. There was one beer bottle top from a previous guest in our room, the paint was chipping, the wall borders were peeling, the chair was stained, the tub was stained, and there was some kind of bad patch job in the ceiling of the bathroom. Overall the room felt dirty. To their credit, the person we met a check-out was really nice and we did get an excellent room rate for being so close to the beach. |
