Arabia Steamboat Museum
This cargo steamboat, laden with 220 tons of merchandise destined for settlers out west, sank in the Missouri River in 1856, where it remained preserved in cold mud until it was excavated in the 1980s. A virtual time capsule of the 1850s and one of the best collections of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world, the museum provides a fascinating look at frontier life, with displays of the steamboat's cargo, from china and hardware to jewelry and leather boots (900 shoes and boots alone are on display). Tours begin with a film of the excavation and restoration of parts of the boat (which are now on display); plan on 1 1/2 hours here.

Toy and Miniature Museum
Occupying a 1911 mansion, this museum houses an extensive collection of antique dolls, more than 100 furnished dollhouses, marbles, and toys ranging from model trains to games, as well as perfect scale miniatures of houses, rooms, and furniture. The miniatures are fully functional -- scissors cut, clocks run, and musical instruments can be played, making it a fascinating experience for adults and kids alike. the hotel was nice but area is bad nothing in the area to do anything close and area had a bad smell that stunk up room other wise it was fine

The hotel itself was nice but we noticed a smell of sulpher dioxide. like swamp gas. We notified the manager and the maintience person said there was a treatment plant nearby.

The only place close enough for dinner is the Smuggler's Inn. I cannot reccommend it. The food was overpriced and the service was awful. The food was just okay, certainly not worth the high price tag. The freeway is very close - so hop on it to find another restaurant.

The Intrigue Park Place Hotel was overall a good experience. The Hotel staff was very helpful. The restaurant was convenient and the food was good. The service in the restaurant was exceptional the first day - both for breakfast and lunch. The service was not nearly as good on Saturday morning. The room itself was comfortable with easy access to the internet. The bathroom, particularly the tub was not clean. I had to pull hairs out of it! The down bedding was amazing! I have never had a better night's sleep at a hotel. The bar itself had a live band on Friday night that was enjoyable. The hotel itself has some maintenance issues, mostly cosmetic, probably just normal wear and tear. The pool was beautiful and has a nice lounging area. Parking was very convenient. The location is very close to the hub of Kansas City, not too far out of the loop, but far enough away from traffic. There were not a lot of dining choices for dinner closeby. They also have a little lake aside the hotel with a nice little walking trail that circles it. We did have a good experience at this hotel.
