During your Kansas City vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Arabia Steamboat Museum
This cargo steamboat, laden with 220 tons of merchandise destined for settlers out west, sank in the Missouri River in 1856, where it remained preserved in cold mud until it was excavated in the 1980s. A virtual time capsule of the 1850s and one of the best collections of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world, the museum provides a fascinating look at frontier life, with displays of the steamboat's cargo, from china and hardware to jewelry and leather boots (900 shoes and boots alone are on display). Tours begin with a film of the excavation and restoration of parts of the boat (which are now on display); plan on 1 1/2 hours here.
Negro Leagues Baseball Museum/American Jazz Museum
These two unique museums, housed under one roof, are in the historic Jazz District. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum tells the compelling story of segregated baseball, from the founding of the Negro National League just a few blocks away in 1920, until Jackie Robinson, who played for the Kansas City Monarchs, signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. The Jazz Museum pays tribute to jazz greats ranging from Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington to Ella Fitzgerald and Charlie Parker, with listening stations throughout. Be sure to see the film in the visitor center highlighting the golden days of the 1930s, when this very district boasted more than 60 jazz clubs and served as the commercial heart of Kansas City's African-American community. The Blue Room, attached to the complex, stages jazz concerts 4 nights a week. Plan on 2 hours here.
Toy and Miniature Museum
Occupying a 1911 mansion, this museum houses an extensive collection of antique dolls, more than 100 furnished dollhouses, marbles, and toys ranging from model trains to games, as well as perfect scale miniatures of houses, rooms, and furniture. The miniatures are fully functional -- scissors cut, clocks run, and musical instruments can be played, making it a fascinating experience for adults and kids alike. You can easily spend a fascinating hour or more here.

Short distance to Negro League Museum which is worth your time to visit.

The Hyatt Crown Center was very nice. The room had a large bathroom. Everything was very clean. Walkway to Crown Center shopping. Would recommend to others.

OVERALL NICE HOTEL BUT NEED A FEW MINOR IMPROVEMENTS

Anonymous, 2007-03-04

YOU CAN TAKE THE WALKWAY ACROSS TO NICE SHOPPING MALL WITH GOOD RESTAURANTS.

OVERALL, NICE HOTEL, COMFORTABLE BEDS. NICE BREAKFAST BUFFET, BUT HEAVEN FORBID IF YOU WANTED A LATE NIGHT SNACK. THERE ARE NO SNACK/CANDY MACHINES, SNACK BARS, ETC. AND I'M SORRY, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO PAY ROOM SERVICE AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR A PIECE OF PIE OR TAKE 2 ELEVATORS TO GET TO THE BAR/RESTAURANT ON THE 40TH FLOOR OR THE OTHER VERY HIGH DOLLAR RESTAURANT/BARS. PARKING LEAVES SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED. YOU HAD TO PARK IN THE PARKING GARAGE, TAKE AN ELEVATOR DOWN TO THE GROUND AND THEN WALK THRU THE GARAGE TO THE HOTEL LOBBY. NOT MUCH CONVENIENCE. BUT I THINK THAT'S HOW HOTEL PARKING IS.

Very friendly

Anonymous, 2007-03-02

The glass walkway to a shopping area was a great treat. Being alone in a strange town, I felt safe not having to walk alone on city streets. The view of downtown Kanasas City from the walkway was beautiful at night.

The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The open lobby was a breathe of fresh air. The only disappointments were that coffee was not available in my room and there was not free wireless internet available.

My review of Hyatt Regency Crown Center

Sandi, 2007-02-03

The Link to Crown Center was pleasant so you could remain inside during the bitter cols.

We were greeted at the check in desk, and upon learning it was our special day, our room was upgraded and we were given a card for two free breakfasts at The Terrace. We dined at Skies Restaurant, but had to leave early due to my motion sickness (which I was told is common!). The waitress boxed our dinner and provided a complimentary dessert. The Hyatt Regency made, what could have been an upsetting occasion, a very special and memorable day. We plan to return to The Hyatt Regency in six months so we can relive the experience.

convient location to Crown Plaza, Union Station and the Liberty Monument

Anonymous, Sacramento, CA, 2006-10-31

The Crown Plaza is a short walk away. It is all enclosed so you don't need to worry if it is raining.

The room and bath were very clean. The bed was soooooo comfortable!!!! I was disappointed that there was not a coffee maker in the room. I enjoy a cup while getting ready for the day. There was a Starbucks Express located near the main desk. A mini refridge would have been nice to put in a bottle of water to keep cold. A full length mirror /make-up mirror would have been great. A great place to stay.

It was close to Union Station. Very comfortable. Good bed. Quiet. With a coffee pot it would have been perfect!

Very Informative Staff

James, Ontario, CA, 2006-10-08

Crown center is very close to get gifts or anything you forgot to pack.

We called down with several questions as we were only in town for two days. Directions to where we needed to go as well as dinner recommendations were provided when we could not get into the hotel's restaurants as they were booked. Rooms were clean and our view of the city was nice. The beds are incredibly comfortable!! Our door accidently did not shut one night and we came back two hours later and everything was still fine. You stay at a nicer place, and you are generally surrounded with a nicer quality of people. Would definitely come back and stay at the Hyatt again.

Nice family get-away

Elizabeth, St Louis, MO, 2006-08-20

The Plaza was a short drive from the hotel. We went there for dinner once and to shop. Lots of dining choices there.

The Hyatt Regency was very comfortable. The hotel atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing- lots of greenery, and pretty fountains. Loved the high tech workout room equipment! Great service and good food in the ope air dining room.
