Toy and Miniature Museum
Occupying a 1911 mansion, this museum houses an extensive collection of antique dolls, more than 100 furnished dollhouses, marbles, and toys ranging from model trains to games, as well as perfect scale miniatures of houses, rooms, and furniture. The miniatures are fully functional -- scissors cut, clocks run, and musical instruments can be played, making it a fascinating experience for adults and kids alike. You can easily spend a fascinating hour or more here.
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Kansas City's premier museum is especially noted for its Asian art, including Tang dynasty bowls and Ming dynasty furniture; an outdoor sculpture garden with the largest U.S. collection of bronzes by Henry Moore; the largest public collection of works by Missouri native Thomas Hart Benton (closed periodically due to an expansion that will increase the museum's size by 71%, slated for completion in 2007); a collection of 17th- and 18th-century European paintings; Impressionist and post-Impressionist pieces; and American art. The museum includes works by Caravaggio, Titian, Rembrandt, Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Gauguin, van Gogh, Andy Warhol, and Willem de Kooning. The airy Rozelle Court Restaurant has extended dinner hours on Friday, with live jazz. Plan on 2 hours or more here.
Thomas Hart Benton Home
From 1939 until he died in his studio in 1975, this 1903, late-Victorian limestone house served as home and studio of Missouri's most renowned 20th-century artist. The house and studio are just as Benton left them, with many personal belongings like clothing, furniture, paints and brushes, and 13 original works, which you can see in about half an hour.

Exceeded Expectations

Anonymous, Charlotte, NC, 2007-03-11

Many museums, clubs and restaurants are only a short walk away. The hotel also provides shutle service for short distances.

I travel frequently and have had stays that did not live up to the hype or reputation. For that reason, I try to manage my expectations even when reading glowing reviews about a location. The Best Western Seville Plaza, exceeded my expectations in several ways. The staff was indeed helpful, in fact they could not have been more accomodating. The room was expansive, clean and comfortable, the amenities numerous, the fitness area adequate and accessable (24 hours a day),and the location was excellent. The parking is a bit limited, but I would definitely reccommend this hotel.

Willing to return

Anonymous, Philadelphia, PA, 2007-02-26

Hotel is near Country Club Plaza which has very nice restaurants and shopping. Shuttle available to take you to the area.

The Best Western Inn Seville Plaza was good 3 star hotel. The room was comfortable. The location was good. The housekeeping was a little disappointing, but in line with conservation efforts. The bed linen (mattress cover) was lumpy, sheets were wrinkled, housekeeper did not change linen, just made it up. The plumber temporarily repaired slow operating toilet which did not thoroughly flush each time. I appreciated the continental breakfast. Suggest installing snack vending machine. The front desk and housekeeping staff were very pleasant and helpful. While I did not use the service, it was helpful to have the shuttle service available for short trips.

Very comfortable

The Best Western Seville Plaza Hotel was a nice place to stay. The location for shopping was great, because it is within a few blocks of the Plaza. However, this hotel is right on the edge of a not so nice area of town. We had the jacuzzi suite, which was very nice. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was very clean.

Very Roomy

Anonymous, Dallas, TX, 2006-11-05

Great restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel on the Plaza, as well as shopping. In addition, the Kemper Modern Museum of Art and the Nelson Art Gallery are within a very pleasant walking distance.

Four of us shared the room, and it was large enough that none of us felt cramped or in the way. The sink was separate from the bathroom, and that was very convenient for us. The free wireless connection was extremely appreciated as we had to prepare for a presentation at a conference. My only complaint was that our room was missing a remote control for the television and we had no coffee pot for the coffee maker; however, we rarely watched the TV (never did get a remote after requesting one), and coffee was always available in the lobby (we did get a coffee pot, but it had no lid and so was very messy when trying to make coffee. The hotel is within walking distance of the Plaza, and it's also close to the Westport area, though a little too far to walk. That's where the free parking comes in. I really appreciated that!

Nice little hotel

Anonymous, 2006-10-29

The Plaza is just a few blocks away. One could even walk to it.

The Best Western Seville Plaza Hotel is a very nice little hotel. The room is clean, relatively roomy and has all the furnishing that one needs. The shower is easy to use and has good water presssue. The two luggage racks are a good idea. And the parking is very convenient.
