During your Minneapolis vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Minnesota Zoo
You'll see most of the exotic animals you expect at the 485-acre Minnesota Zoo, including tigers, camels, dolphins, and monkeys. But this zoo includes an especially nice array of North American animals, including wolves, bison, pumas, and wolverines. During the summer the zoo's working Wells Fargo Family Farm engages visitors with hands-on exhibits and teaches how food travels from the farm to the grocery store shelves. There's also an IMAX theater, and a monorail offering great aerial views. Allow 2 hours.
Minnesota State Capitol
Built in 1905 on a hill overlooking downtown St. Paul, the capitol is crowned by the world's largest unsupported marble dome (modeled after the one Michelangelo created for St. Peter's Basilica in Rome). The interior is equally impressive, with its marble stairways, chambers, and halls, and its oil paintings. Allow 1 hour.
Mill City Museum
Minneapolis's newest museum recounts the history of the flour milling industry that earned the city the nickname "Mill City" in the late 19th century. Set in the ruins of what was once the world's largest flour mill, and one of over two dozen such Minneapolis mills, the museum re-creates old milling techniques with period equipment, railroad cars, and interactive exhibits. Visitors also learn the impact of the nation's first high-quality, finely milled flour on the Twin Cities and the country. Allow 1 hour.

Swanky, comfy, and fun

Anonymous, New York, NY

There's a mall with bars and restuarants right next door - plus other cool bars and clubs a short distance away.

This was our second time staying at the Graves 601. It is very centrally located in downtown Minneapolis. This is a great hotel if you want to have a great time and relax, without really having to worry about anything. The rooms are very modern and exceptionnaly clean and well maintained, with a massive flat screen tv, as well as a tv in the bathroom. The products provided in the bathroom are all high-end, and the mattress and bedding are some of the most comfortable we've ever experienced - and we've been in a lot of hotels. There is a well-appointed gym and a very convenient bussiness center with free high-speed internet. The hotel has a trendy bar and restaurant with top-notch drinks and bar snacks, and there is valet parking if you want it. The hotel is also conveniently connecting to a mall with a lot of great shops and restuarants, and there is even a Starbucks right next door. All in all, top-notch comfort and ammenities and great location - we'll definitely be coming back.

Fabulous beds and linens!!!!!!

Carol, 2006-07-09

Nice shopping, all the major department stores. Also, good restaurants were within walking. Try Murray's for steak. Fabulous!

It was a beautiful ultra modern upscale hotel right across from the Target Center. Not to be confused with Target shopping. It's where the sports teams of Minneapolis play. Great location. My only complaint, a very small one, is that you have to order ice up to your room. There is no machine and it took too long to get. The bed really made up for it though. Wonderful.

Security Conscious

DIANA, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-06-28

There is a sandwhich shop open until 2:30am on the block and they will even deliver to the hotel in under 15 minutes! It is cheap, healthy, and great for midnight snacking!

The Graves 601 Hotel was great, the room was excellent with its Plasma television, DVD player and comfortable beds. The bathroom was sleek, with its bowl shaped glass sink, to the television in front of the toliet. The location was perfect, right in all the downtown action on Block E. The hotel went out of their way to ensure security by having the check-in on the 4th floor with the need for a room key to access the rest of the building.

Great Location - superb bedding

Nancy, 2006-04-23

The bar on the fourth floor of the hotel is a great place for drinks and talk - also people watch!

Great location to restaurants, bars, parks, shopping etc... Felt very safe - visible security - can only access the floor you are staying on. The staff was very professional, prompt, etc.. The rooms were very nice and clean- comfortable bedding. One drawback - the bathroom sink is a beautiful round bowl, but situated in the middle of the counter with hardly any room to place additional items. Would definitely stay here again!
