Detroit Institute of Arts
America's sixth largest art museum is undergoing a massive expansion that will leave portions of its collection off-limits until 2006. Brave the sawdust anyway to see some of the world's great masters, including Rembrandt, Rubens, Caravaggio, van Gogh, Cézanne, Whistler, and Rothko. There are also impressive ancient Egyptian, African, Asian, and Native American collections, and Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry murals are must-sees. Detroit Historical Museum
Begin your exploration of Detroit with this repository of the city's history. You can walk a re-created cobblestone and brick street lined with 19th-century shops, and check out the two-story assembly line in the Motor City exhibit. canada anything goes

when I checked in to the motel i don;t think the owner knew english very well when i told him my name he went through the list of names then he showed me every reciept untill I found mine. the dumpster was over flowing with trash spread out all over the ground around it. the room were nice everything looked new in them. all we did was sleep in them. no hot water in our room. then when we went to check out he accused use of making three local calls. i told him that we didn't make any calls then after several minutes he finally dropped it. the time when he said the calls were made we were in canada.we did even get any money back for no hot water for showers. leave nothing in your vehicles either. motorcity casino three to four blocks away

Carl's Chop House, Motor City Casino restaurants.

This is an old hotel, and not the greatest, but its still decent for the buck. And its right across the street from Motor City Casino, which is very good for me.

My kinda place

The Viking Motel is a little rough on the outside, but well worth the money for the trip myself and some friends went on. The interior of the rooms is spacious and clean. Our room had a microwave and a mini fridge, which was a nice suprise as well as a nice colour general cable TV. We also adopted a poor little peg-leg cat that was eating cigarette butts out in the courtyard.

Viking Motel - Downtown Convenience...

Viking Motel was located perfectedly for what I wanted to accomplish in Downtown Detroit. If you need minimum amenities as I do, Viking Motel is perfect for you. Clean comfortable beds, showers, towels, TV and phone. Casino is hardly two blocks away.
