The most colorful hotel in Ann Arbor, bringing the Southwestern Style to the Midwest. The hotel is centrally located between The University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University. The hotel has three floors and one elevator, an outdoor pool, one ballroom, one lounge, one restaurant. Interior corridors for room entry.
Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 Stay away Anonymous I had to wait over 10 minutes before someone came to check me in. The room was freezing cold and never did warm up - not good for a January visit in Michigan. I stayed 2 nights and my room was not made up the second day. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they told me the housekeeping staff forgot about it and I was not offered any compensation. When I mentioned it again upon check out, the front desk staff said they could have given me another room (but I was checking out so it really did not matter at that point). One other thing, I had to make several trips from the third floor, from a room very far from the front desk, because my key would not work in the door. After 3 trips to the front desk, it finally worked. I realize that the place was under renovation, but buckets in the lobby to catch dripping water is really tacky! I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to any of my friends/family! Although there were very few amenities I had no complaints because it was very inexpensive. Score 1 out of 5 Beware Anonymous, 2006-09-03 Strip m alls are next door and across the street. The rooms were clean, but the hotel is poorly maintained. The room we were given on the first night had a brocken lock. When we moved to another room, we discovered that the bathtub drain had a clog. Score 4 out of 5 Comfortable Anonymous, 2006-08-01 DSW, Marshalls, Furniture store, restuarants, and other large retail across the street.Comfortable and affordable. Score 3 out of 5 Substandard Anonymous, 2006-04-30 The hotel has a good retaurant and very close to the interstate.Ventilation in the rooms on the main floor (ground/first floor) is very poor because the rooms have no windows that can be opened for fresh air to flow in. Suspect the rooms are allocated indiscriminately to smokers and nonsmokers, which compels the hotel staff to spray the rooms with airfreshheners that are choking because the windows can not be opened to reduce the stuffiness of the rooms. The carpets on the floor of the lobby and the rooms are very old and smelly, and are not properly vacumed. Surprisingly in this 21st century, the hotel swimming pool top edge is cemented - it would have been proper to use ceramic tiles or other decent, sparkling and durable water resistant material. I had never in my life seen a hotel swimming pool so poorly made. I did not see the inside of the pool, but will not be surprised if it is also lined with grey cement or bare sancrete dressing. Although the outside has been repainted, the inside needs total refurbishment in order for the hotel to live up to what I understand is its new name- Ann Arbor University Hotels and Suites. The two things I found farely tolerable at the hotel was its staff who did what they could to satisfy us, and the modest breakfast that we got. There is a lot of things to improve upon b/4 I can recommend the hotel to a friend or try lodge there in the future. Score 4 out of 5 good value for money Anonymous, 2006-04-02 Go to see University of Michigan Stadium for 115,000 people. that's really cool view! Use gate 9 to get in.Good value for money. Room is small, but close to centre of the city. Fridge, microwave and coffemaker in the room. We did not try the outside pool, as it was closed (April), but looked OK (but small). The views are not good as it is close to the highway. Score 3 out of 5 Renovations in progress Anonymous, 2005-12-03 The staff at the hotel were very pleasant. I got what I paid for, however full price would have been out of line. They were out of 2 double bed rooms and gave us a suite with separate bedroom / living room combination. The hotel is under renovations so I understand some of the unkempt appearance (they had sprayed the ceilings and there were drips of that material on the walls and carpet). The rooms are in need of fresh wall coverings and carpet. The curtains appeared to have just been hung after being wadded up. There was no phone and I had to request one to get a wake up call. The bed linens were clean however the sheets had large tears in them. The bathroom was clean. There was no coffee for the coffee pot and the usual complementary items were missing. We are not particularly picky people and just needed a bed for the night. I would consider this hotel after more of the renovations are made. It is a nice location, the staff was very nice and efficient. The restaurant was open and it smelled delicious but we had already eaten so we didn't eat there. The potential is there for a really nice experience. They just need more time to upgrade. Score 3 out of 5 It has the basics Anonymous, Cleveland, OH, 2005-10-09 There are restaurants and shopping close by.This is clearly an old facility that has recent new ownership. They have made an effort to update it. It was clean with new paint and good service. It is not luxury by any means. There was no clock or clock radio in the room. But it has the basics at and they get an A for effort. This is a University town and it was fine for a football weekend. Score 3 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2005-09-05 No review provided by user |
