My review of Landmark Inn

Todd

There are a few small diners and coffee shops within walking distence. Just remember that the hotel sits atop a hill!

The Landmark Inn is a beautiful, historic hotel, with many architectural and designs details from the 1920's. When you enter the lobby, it is easy to see why this hotel was the jewel of the Upper Peninsula in the 20's, 30's and 40's. The clean and comfortable rooms contain antique furniture pieces, which add wonderful ambience and character to each room. The hotel pub is a nice place for a quick meal. The food and drinks are a great value. The service is fast and friendly. The hotel is located on a steep hill, adajcent to Lake Superior, so be prepared for strong winds, especially in the winter. The Landmark Inn is also becoming greener. Hotel management is dedicated to reducing waste and energy use. For example, all the rooms contain energy efficiency light bulbs. I was gratified to see that the hotel is committed to being as energy efficient as possible, without comprimising its historic integrity.

Unique rooms

Anonymous, 2006-07-08

Downtown shops right around the corner and also several dining choices. We ate at a brew pub overlooking the lake called The Vierling - unique but very tasty blueberry beer!

Each room has unique antique furnishings, plenty of room. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants, but heard from others that the food was "marginal" and over-priced. We only went into the bar downstairs, which also had a nice decor and a good selection of drinks. Great location downtown!

Convienient historical property

Thomas, Ontario, CA, 2005-12-04

The historical lounge and restauarnt have been completely restored and there was quite a crowd, even on a cold winter night. Excellent food and drinks.

The Landmark Inn in downtown Marquette is a completely restored historical property. The room was large and furnished with period pieces. The room featured a fireplace and large windows overlooking historical Marquette. The bathroom was completely modern and spacious. The location was perfect - views of both Lake Superior and downtown Marquette and close to other restaurants and the university. The staff was extremely pleasant and the lobby area, restaurants and lounge have been very nicely restored.

Fun Halloween Stay

JAN, Green Bay, WI, 2005-10-30

Several wonderful restaraunts within a very short walk, and a nightclub also within walking distance.

The Landmark Inn is on the registry of haunted places in the state of Michigan, making it a perfect choice for the Halloween weekend. While we didn't see any ghosts, !we did enjoy a beautifully appointed room with a fireplace and a corner view. The bed was very comfortable and the bath was large. We enjoyed the 6th floor bar with it's wonderful view of the lake and city, and the restaraunt the next morning with it's delicious food. My crepes were tender and tasty and my husband's eggs were done perfectly. In all, a perfect place for a romantic get away, and we will definately go back - the sooner the better!
