Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 CHECKED OUT AFTER FIRST NIGHT Anonymous, New York, NY The Eastland has seen better days- The room was small, dark, and musty. The heating unit didn't work (even with hotel assistance). I would have changed rooms then, but it was after 11pm and I was ready for bed. The sink (which was in the room, not the bathroom) had difficulty draining. There wasn't one piece of tourist or local reading material in the room. I could live with all that, considering the price I was paying for the room, except that a hotel employee (when questioned) told me that the hotel was "fairly empty." I wonder if I was given that room because I was paying a cheap price. Upon checking out, I was offered a different room, but I feel I shouldn't have to complain to get a better room. I've always felt that a hotel should be rated on its worst room, not its best. I checked out after the first night. I wasn't going to stay in the Eastland again. The Eastlasnd's motto is "A glorious past, a magnificant future." I'm sure it had a glorious past, I question the "magnificant future." I'll never stay there again and I wouldn't recommend it. Score 2 out of 5 Review Anonymous Civic CenterScore 4 out of 5 I would recommend it Anonymous The hotel staff was very friendly. The room I stayed in had a nice view. The only downfall was the outdated fitness center which had broken machines. Score 4 out of 5 Nice Place, Great Value Anonymous This was my first visit to Portland, and the Eastland Park Hotel turned out to be a great selection. While it is a few blocks further from shopping, restaurants, and the harbor than other area hotels, it was a much more affordable option. The rooftop lounge had a beautiful view and nice atmosphere. We were able to get good martinis and appetizers up there. We went to the restaurant one night and had a wonderful meal there as well. Parking was easy in the parking garage next door and there was plenty of on-street parking closer to the shops, etc. when we wanted to explore that area. Score 4 out of 5 Business Anonymous, Boston, MA A few exits up there are numerous shopping locations. The Eastland Park is more accomodating for a business trip to the city rather that site seeing and shopping tourist. Score 4 out of 5 could be better Anonymous The Portland Museum of Art is a must if you visit this cityThe hotel need some renovation. No one helps you with your bags upon arrival and the staff at the front desk are not very friendly. Housekeeping was making my room at 2 pm!!! Score 5 out of 5 Heart of the city hotel Cynthia, New York, NY, 2007-02-18 There were many different restaurants, pubs with music and shops open late and all within walking distance. The Eastland hotel was a wonderful surprise. It was an older hotel that had been updated but had also kept all the grace, beauty and charm it was meant to have when first built. We had an oversized room in a corner of the tenth floor of this hotel that had six windows so that we could look out on the city and the waterfront. There was a large armoire that housed the television and enough drawers below to hold all our clothing. The closet was also large with a top shelf that even short people like myself could reach. The location was perfect in that it was centered around everything in the city so that all the sites, restaurants and shops were within walking distance. The hotel staff were pleasant friendly and very helpful. I would return without a second thought. Score 4 out of 5 confused checkin robert, Portland, ME, 2006-11-12 we were in portland to attend a play at merrill auditoreum which was about a 10 minute walk from hotel. there was also close access to fine dining and the wives enjoyed the shopping opportunities near by.we were checked in for two rooms and upon attempt to enter one room we found that room already occupied.however, the hotel staff did provide us with two other adjoining rooms.
