Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Convenient and Clean Anonymous, 2007-03-09 Hotel is 2 miles from the University of Maryland Conference center.They suggested I take a room with 2 beds rather than a single king because of it being in a more visible and safer location for a single female. I appreciated their suggestion and was able to sleep better because I felt safer. The room was very clean and much larger than I anticipated. It had a TV, refrigerator with bottled water, and microwave, iron and board, coffee maker, etc.There were 4 huge towels and plenty of hot water plus a hairdryer. Breakfast and excellent eye opener coffee was provided. The staff gave me excellent travel directions that saved me time and were polite and professional. My fiance got very sick during our visit and since the hotel is pretty far away from any stores I asked the lady at the front desk if she could help. She took be back in the back and opened a first aid kit and offered me any medicine we needed, which was very nice. The hotel is located on a very busy 5 lane road with no cross-walk nearby. You take your life in your hands trying to cross to the other side to catch the bus (which doesn't run often enough on weekends to be very useful) The college park metro station is probably a mile or two away, so it is likely you will have to take a cab if you can't wait an hour for a bus. Overall the cleanliness was good. Continental breakfast runs out fast and is not replinished so get there early. Score 2 out of 5 Close to College Park but stay further away Anonymous, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-07-25 The Howard Johnson's College park is very close to UMD campus. The hotel is very worn out. I guess the people talking on their personal cell phones at the check in counter behind bullet proof class explains it all. The rooms although clean, looked like they were never moderized. My recommendation is to stay 10 miles away at a more modern hotel with the same price range. I did not receive my personal phone calls. No one at the front desk answered the phone. They did me a great favor by allowing me to keep the luggage in the front desk until the evening, which saved me a lot of trouble.
