Great Hotel, short subway ride from downtown DC

The Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, MD is a short subway ride away from downtown Washington, DC and a great hotel overall with one or two possible exceptions. One exception is I don't like paying an extra $10.00 per night to use the hotel's high speed internet, which other guests told me at their continental breakfast, wasn't that fast. Then again they did have 2 wired jacks in my room and I was told they also had wireless connections as well. Even the tables where they served their contindental breakfast had wired internet jacks and 117 volt outlets right there, so you didn't have to run your laptop on batteries if you didn't want to. I never had time to use the pool or other facilities, but the breakfast was pretty good with lots of fresh fruit, large bottles of Orange Juice, lots of flavored coffee and of course the sweet rolls. Even Homer Simpson would have been pleased. Of all the hotels on that street, it is the closest to the subway, which was about 100 yards away from the door to the hotel. The mattresses felt like they were pretty new and the bathroom was very large. The water from the tap in the bath room was ice cold and delicious. The heating system worked fine even tho I was there on what was probably the coldest 4 days of the winter. I've stayed at other hotels in Maryland, which advertised close access to the Washington, DC subway system and this was by far the best. When I wanted to eat in expensively, there was a Subway, 2 blocks away, my bank and my stock broker had branches one block away. They even had a Pizzeria Uno 2 short blocks away, so this Chicagoan felt right at home. While I ate my pizza I could even watch the Bears win a football game. If you like steak, there is a Morton's right there on the property. And the whole place was non smoking.

While there is a Morton's Steakhouse on premises, it is less than a block to a Ruth's Chris, my favorite steakhouse.

The Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, MD fills the bill for a business traveller to the Washington, DC area. It is modern, well-appointed and well maintained with a friendly helpful staff. Having Daily Grill and Morton's Steakhouse on premises was great. The valet parking service made the use of a rental car very easy. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom (though small) was beautifully appointed and complete. A refrigerator is available without charge upon request. The only missing element of the room was no valuables safe. I would highly recommend this hotel.

A nice walking running path. Many resturants & shops

My stay at this Hyatt was an overall good experience. The location was in the heart of Bethesda & near to many resturants & shop. ANy staff member I came across from the front desk, the maids to the lifeguard at the pool all did a great job. I think my favorite aspect of the hotel was the pool & workout room on the top floor with a great view.
