During your Baltimore vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Fells Point Maritime Museum
New in 2003, this two-room museum overlooking the harbor recalls the shipbuilding history of Fells Point. With maps, photos, and models of ships of the War of 1812, pilot schooners, and Baltimore clippers, the museum aims to tell about the sailors and shipbuilders who made this part of the city their home. A continuously running video of the Pride of Baltimore II offers a glimpse of how sailors handled one of these sailing ships.
National Aquarium in Baltimore
Visitors can walk into a room surrounded by patrolling sharks, wander among the coral reefs, follow the yearly migration of fish, and visit a rainforest on the roof at one of best aquariums in the country. In addition to the watery denizens, exhibits include a puffin display; Maryland: Mountains to the Sea; and a new Amazon River Forest filled with plants and animals as well as fish. The sharks and the dolphin presentation are the main attractions. On a cold day, it's a joy to skip right to the top of the aquarium and bask in the Amazon heat that envelops the brightly colored birds, the shy iguana, and the sloth. (For the best views, come straight here when the aquarium opens, as that's when the animals are most active.) Though you walk in front of most of the exhibits, you actually walk inside the doughnut-shaped Coral Reef and the Open Ocean (shark) tanks, getting up close with these exotic creatures. At feeding time in the coral reef, the divers always draw a crowd. The Marine Mammal Pavilion is connected by covered bridge to the main hall. It's where you'll find the dolphins. Don't miss the presentations; reserve a seat when you pay your admission at no additional fee.Insider tip: The aquarium draws huge crowds in summer. Beat the crush by ordering timed tickets in advance or order tickets from the aquarium website. Nonpeak times are weekday mornings, Friday evenings, and after 3pm. A new Australian exhibit is under construction and will open in spring 2005.
Passport
An attraction more suited to a theme park, Passport offers visitors two "experiences": Time Elevator America and Oceanarium 2. Both are 20-minute movies, shown in theatres with seats that bump and twist and special effects such as mist and wind. There are stationary seats, too. Neither has any real Baltimore ties -- although opening footage was shot on Baltimore's Federal Hill, neighborhoods, and the National Aquarium. Time Elevator tells of a man traveling through time back to colonial days. It's well acted with a story that's more engrossing than Oceanarium. But if you love fish, Oceanarium is a better choice for its cinematography. Neither is up to Disney quality, but it's a fun if pricey diversion in the Inner Harbor. A new show begins every 15 minutes. You can purchase tickets for the next show or in advance in person or online.

Matsuri was the best sushi I've ever had! It's usually packed, so be prepared for a short wait.

Good local shopping

wear comfortable shoes and clothing if taking walking tour of the nearby shops.

The best part of this hotel was the location and the free shuttle service around town.

Great Value

Mary, Washington, DC, 2005-10-16

We had a great time taking the water taxi to Fells Point for dinner. We found lots of pubs and a nice quiet restuarant. You felt comfortable having a few dreinks with dinner because you took the water taxi back and then could walk back to the hotel. The watertaxi was a great bargain at $8 for a whole day pass

This was a suite with a wonderful view, full kitchen and large bedroom with very comfortable beds. The check in staff seemed very indifferent to us but the staff the next morning was wonderful and very helpful. The location was very convenient for walking back and forth to the inner harbor. We had great weather and the walks back and forth asdded to the total experience.

Nice Rooms, Great Location in Baltimore

Anonymous, Richmond, VA, 2005-09-24

There is a great Irish Pub 1/2 a block up the road, several other places to eat and drink on Charles St, and walking distance to the Inner Harbor. Don't get your reservation confused with the Tremont Plaza (much nicer with all the amenities) which is 2 blocks away.

The Tremont Park hotel was ideally located and had clean comfortable suites. Our room had 2 Queens and a pull out. It also had a nice kitchen area. Well worth the money to have these extras. Cable and internet service were available, too. Bathroom and dressing room were good size and comfortable. Parking is $18, charged to your room, and the car gets parked at the Plaza's parking areas. I was in town for a concert at the Sonar Lounge, they gave us a free shuttle to the Sonar and gave me directions on how to get back.
