A most original luxury hotel, the newly renovated Charles Hotel combines classic New England design and sophisticated service. You can see our character in our signature quilts, bountiful regional cuisine, and thoughtful planning. The Charles Hotel is located in the heart of Harvard Square, just minutes from downtown Boston, Massachusetts. The Charles Hotel, a AAA Four Diamond Hotel, offers the finest, most distinctive guest accommodations in the Boston area with 294 spacious guestrooms. Our renovated guest rooms include custom designed pieces, such as spacious cherry-wood desks, oversized clocks, Hi-Def LCD Plasma Televisions and hand-crafted quilts. Throughout the rooms are unique touches that celebrate The Charles' reputation as "Cambridge's most intellectual property," leading with the oversized black and white chalkboard drawing hanging in each room. Additionally, the rooms are furnished with a custom created professor's chair, and a hanging peg board that is reminiscent of a New England boarding school.Beginning in February 2007, guests will be able to take advantage of free local, national long distance, and 800 calls in their guest rooms. In addition, to the phone service, the hotel recently opened "Web Cubes" on each of its seven guest floors. The rooms serve as a mini work station for the executive on-the-go or as a convenience for the leisure guest who wants to send an email to the family back home. Open 24 hours a day, the Web Cubes include complimentary high-speed internet and printing. These are in addition to a complete business center on the first floor.

Can't beat the location. The beds in the double rooms are very small though. The two beds are both narrowers than a full-sized bed. Score 5 out of 5 My review of The Charles Hotel Miodrag, Washington, DC, 2005-11-06 The Henrietta's table breakfast and Sunday brunch are outstanding!!!Charles Hotel has excelent location, very contemporary interior, actually it looks like it has opened for business just a day or so ago.Rooms are large well appointed, toilettries excellent, towels SOFT. Score 5 out of 5 nice and classy Anonymous, Fresno, CA, 2005-09-11 It's right near Harvard University.I stayed for one night only and was therefore not there long enough to see much. The much I saw was very nice. Score 5 out of 5 Very Comfortable and convenient Anonymous, 2005-09-07 Harvard Square has so many attractions and fine or fun dining, coffee shops, specialty shops. Explore and make sure you are in the square in the evening to see the street performers. Generally these performers are a great family attraction, be sure to tip!The Charles is a superb hotel located in Harvard Square, close to public transport, the Charles River, and fine entertainment and dining. The rooms are furnished with plump down pillows and featherbeds, Bose radio, DVD player, TV with internet access as well as high speed internet access for personal computers. (For an extra charge.) The TV internet access utilizes a wireless keyboard which DOES NOT work well, but the hotel credited my account for the charge. Hotel parking is extra and at $32/day, an unexpected and significant expense, use the valet or make sure you get your parking ticket stamped by the hotel staff to ensure you get the $32 rate. The hotel restaurants are excellent, Henrietta's table is the power breakfast location for area business-people and academics. The hotel boasts an evening "turn-down service" but my room never looked different after the morning maid service visit. Prices are generally not listed in the room on the breakfast room service menu, or for the day spa on location. I guess if you have to ask........ The concierge was helpful in finding a comedy show in the area on a night when most comedy/improv clubs were closed. I would recommend this hotel for its comfort, service, location and overall quality. But when I checked in late in the evening on a Sunday night - no one at the door - no one to help with bags, etc. Odd for an expensive high class hotel! Other than that - very good. |
