Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Excellent hotel but not paying attention to details Charles, San Francisco, CA Great location to restaurants and shopping and MIT/HarvardHaving TV is critical when you're couped up in a hotel room for 4 days. Although I got upgraded to an executive suite with two TVs (one in the bedroom and one in the living room), the bedroom TV didn't work and the living room TV had poor reception. The front desk said they would send an engineer to fix it but never followed through. Although I watch several movies, they were not in the best reception. Yet, I was still charged for them even though I told the front desk of the situation. Another irk: They charge daily for WiFi internet access. Most hotels, many airports and now several cities (e.g., S.F.) provide this as a transparent service. Having WiFi is like having a public bathroom. You shouldn't have to explicitly charge for it. Score 5 out of 5 top notch kara, 2007-03-11 There was a short walk to the musium of science and dining area's. Also, the shopping mall was right accros the street.Over all we were very satisfied. Staff was very nice and on top of everything when you need it. Lots of staff, very good. Very comfortable beds, and ok view. Resturaunts were wonderful, and we loved the breakfest. We asked to see another room for our next visit and they showed us, witch maybe are next visit. Score 5 out of 5 Great location to see Cambridge Anonymous, 2007-03-11 New shopping mall just across the street. This hotel is perfectly located for the alternate tour of Boston--walk to the Museum of Science or to a Concert at the Fleet Center, take the green line 2 stops to Quincy Market. After a great Saturday night dinner across the street and some shopping, we headed to Harvard Sq (better to take the red line a few stops than to drive) Sunday for brunch and some leisurely shopping at the Coop. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and we had a partial view of the river. We didn't get to use the pool, but it looked nice. My only suggestion would be DVD players in the room. Overall, I would recommend the Sonesta to friends and I think I'll stay there again in the near future. Score 4 out of 5 A little disappointed Anonymous, Boston, MA, 2007-03-03 I finally got to stay at the Royal Sonesta last month, but it was a bit disappointing. The amenities just weren't up to speed. And they charged me $3 to bring a wine corkscrew to my room (why wasn't there one in the room?) AND, worst of all, they aren't members of any points or miles programs. I won't stay there again mainly for that reason. The staff were very helpful with our room as well as assisting with where we could store our luggage prior to check in and after check out while we did additional site seeing. Rooms were clean and service was good. The location of the hotel made it simple for us to visit all of the sites we had planned on. I am so happy for fantastic dawn. Score 5 out of 5 Good for business travel Jean, Chattanooga, TN, 2006-08-05 The hotel was located near the Lechmere subway station. It was just a little way from the Galleria Mall. I was never afraid getting around on the subway. There was always someone getting on and off, and in Boston, there were a lot of people walking around all the time. It is a very walkable city. The best thing about this hotel was the view. It was beautiful. My room was on the ninth floor which overlooked the Charles River and you could see the city lights in the background. They had wireless internet all over the hotel, so that was great. The rooms were a little small but I didn't mind because I was by myself. If I had taken my family, we would have been a little cramped. The hotel was right across from the Cambridge Galleria Mall and the Cheesecake Factory restaurant. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel was that it had no vending machines. There was a gift shop that sold cans of coke for $2, therefore I had to go to the CVS in the mall to get drinks for every day. I would definitely stay there again. They just need vending machines!!! Score 5 out of 5 The Staff was absolutely wonderful. Wanda, 2006-07-30 The Galleria Mall is right across the street from the Hotel. The Royal Sonesta Hotel staff were extremely accomodating. My family and I were very satisfied with the overall hotel. The room may be a little small, but we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Cambridge, MA. |
