During your Boston vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Harrison Gray Otis House
Legendary architect Charles Bulfinch designed this gorgeous 1796 mansion for an up-and-coming young lawyer who later became mayor of Boston. The restoration was one of the first in the country to use a computer analysis of the wall paint, and the result was revolutionary: It revealed that the colors on the walls were drab because the paint was faded, not because they started out dingy. Furnished in the style to which a wealthy family in the late-18th-century and early-19th-century United States would have been accustomed, the Federal-style building is a colorful, elegant treasure. Guided tours (the only way to see the house) discuss the architecture of the house; post-Revolutionary social, business, and family life; and the history of the neighborhood.
King's Chapel and Burying Ground
Architect Peter Harrison sent the plans for this Georgian-style building from Newport, Rhode Island, in 1749. Rather than replacing the existing wooden chapel, the granite edifice was constructed around it. Completed in 1754, it was the first Anglican church in Boston. George III sent gifts, as did Queen Anne and William and Mary, who presented the communion table and chancel tablets (still in use today) before the church was even built. The Puritan colonists had little use for the royal religion; after the Revolution, this became the first Unitarian church in the new nation. Today, the church conducts Unitarian Universalist services using the Anglican Book of Common Prayer. The burying ground, on Tremont Street, is the oldest in the city, dating to 1630. Among the scary colonial headstones (winged skulls were a popular decoration) are the graves of John Winthrop, the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony; William Dawes, who rode with Paul Revere; Elizabeth Pain, the model for Hester Prynne in Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel The Scarlet Letter; and Mary Chilton, the first female colonist to step ashore on Plymouth Rock.To continue on the Freedom Trail: Follow the trail back along Tremont Street and turn left onto School Street.
John F. Kennedy National Historic Site
A property of the National Park Service, the 35th president's birthplace has been restored to appear as it did in 1917. The guided ranger-led tour discusses domestic life of the period and the roots of the Kennedy family. If you miss the last guided tour, ask about the self-guided option. One-hour walking tours of the neighborhood start at 12:45pm on weekends. Call ahead to double-check hours, which are set each January.

Great Hotel

Mark, Portland, ME, 2007-02-08

Lots of shows in Theaters near by

However, food prices higher then we had expected. Felt there should have been another restaurent with lower pricing so that there would more to choose from. Some folks are tired from their journey and just want a quick meal. and to retire for the night. Otherwise, this hotel is wonderful, they have all the amenities you could ever need in a hotel stay. Thank you, and thank you for that sleep machine! What a nice surprise! Although close to airport, didn't hear one airplane and there were many.

Room with a view!

Gary, Miami, FL, 2006-09-21

Sunsets over Boston Harbor

Top quality hotel with the million dollar view if you are on the harbor side of the building. Only one dinning option at the hotel but Boston makes up for that. I stayed here even though my conference was near Fenway Park. I would do it again. The view is spectacular, and I liked taking the T and cabs. You don't want to drive in Boston. Water taxis go from the hotel to the Aquarium area for $10. It is a short shuttle ride to the plane.

Beautiful outdoor areas

Anonymous, Newark, NJ, 2006-08-22

This is a gorgeous hotel and very convenient from the airport and the airport T stop. Their free shuttle goes around the airport every 15 minutes. Out the back of the hotel is a gorgeous lawn and patio and you can watch the sun set behind the Boston skyline. Only downside--there is no mini-store or anything to buy a little snack, just the bar area restaurant.

Beautiful setting, but pricy option!

jaclyn, 2006-08-21

Bring lots of money for the ferry, eat in Little Italy, and wear sandles in the shower.

After arriving at this hotel, I went to the bar for a soda. I must have stood there starring at 2 bartenders for over 10 minutes before I left and was not served. The hotel sits on the river and has the best view of Boston. The hotel was clean and our room was very comfortable. The only thing that bothered me was the tub. It looked very dirty and had areas of black mold where you are to stand. It is only about a 10 minute ferry ride over to the city, however, if you are on a budget, it can be pricy- $10 each way. It is convienently located near the airport, although you will not be able to hear a plane. I would recommend this hotel, however next time I will bring my own soda!

Very satisfied

Right across the harbor was everything in Boston.

My brother and I only stayed 1 night, but the hotel was more than what we expected. More luxurious than what we thought and are used to. It was very convenient from the airport terminals and the rental car lots. An overall very pleasant stay.

Water Taxi for ten minutes.

Everything was perfect at this hotel, from the Shuttle when it picked us up from the airport until we checked out.
