"The hippest lodging in the city." Zagat"Everyone's favorite new hotel . . . creative design and meticulous attention to detail." FrommersTwo blocks from the French Quarter in the Historic Central Business District in one of the world's most eclectic cities, is a hotel like no other. International House is about New Orleans today. It's about a tangible contemporary style and an intangible spiritual warmth weaving its way throughout. It's about the welcoming glow of amber light. It's about the lobby ever changing for summer and winter dress and in observance of rich local customs and rituals. There are layers upon layers to discover. Please note the following service limitations:*Housekeeping cleans rooms every 3 days*Restaurant will not reopen until Dec. 1, 2005*No room service or mini bar available until Dec.1, 2005

We arrived about 6 pm. The entrance off Camp St. is very awkward to access, and ther was no one to help with our bags. When we got to the front desk, we also found out there was no valet parking, so I had to park two blocks down the street. We were given a room next to the elevator, but the rooms are quiet and insulated to keep out a lot of noise. The bathroom was roomy and stocked with products, which was nice. The bed was comfortable, and the small CD player by the bed was a nice touch. The mini-bar was out of service, and there is no Room Service and no restaurant in the hotel. This is a boutique-style hotel, which is not bad in and of itself. Score 5 out of 5 Despite the Storm - Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, 2006-06-27 1 - EVERYthing you want to see in NO is just a short walk from this location. 2 - To see the Garden District, hop on the old-fashioned trolley. 3 - Visit Harrah's at night before bourbon street, sit at the famous Cafe du Monde the next morning, go back to the hotel to check out, then go to Bon Ton Cafe for lunch. When we arrived we weren't just pleased...we were FLOORED! The gentleman behind the desk was so pleasant and easy to do business with. The walls were tastefully decorated with hotel accolades and contemporary art peices. When we arrived at our room, we both admitted that despite our many travels - THIS was THE nicest hotel room we'd EVER stayed in! Soft jazz was playing for us on a CD player next to a CD collection of various Jazz CDs...A large bathroom with a shower that could have fit 12 people...the ceiling must have been 15 feet high! All in all, VERY comfortable and VERY clean. The next day the desk offered to hold our bags while we took a recommendation for the Bon Ton Cafe (again, 2 blocks away)which was THE best red beans and rice, jumbalaya, fried oysters and gumbo we'd ever hoped of having. Knowing the great location and PERFECT service of The International House, we've already planned our next trip for the end of August. Thank you IH for your quick recovery from the storm and thank you for such a high-class establishment - you have earned a loyal guest for years to come. Score 5 out of 5 Exceptional find! S, St Louis, MO, 2006-03-26 Just two blocks from the French Quarter in downtown New OrleansFirst totally non-smoking hotel in New Orleans! Exceptional re-do of a historic building. Lounge was fantastic - contemporary art-deco decor, cozy, quiet, fun. Room was awesome - 15+' ceilings and newest spacious bathrooms! Would recommend to anyone! Score 5 out of 5 Exceeded My Expectations Sandra, Detroit, MI, 2005-07-24 My husband and I escaped to New Orleans for a quick honeymoon. What an amazing experience! The staff greetings, very helpful with directions, turn-down service, the food in the restaurant...ALL of it was impeccable. The room has VERY high ceilings with a ceiling fan and the beds were just like home...including the comfy pillows. Score 5 out of 5 Relaxed modernism Adam, New York, NY, 2005-06-05 this hotel is about 2 blocks away from the French Quarter, so we didn't rent a car b/c of proximity of the hotel to downtown events. Every time you walk into the lobby the ambient music reminds you of a good club experience. Housed in a converted bank from the 1800's the rooms are quaint but comfortable. Score 5 out of 5 comfortable sabrina, Pensacola, FL, 2005-05-30 The beds and pillows are very comfortable and the bathrooms are large and clean. I just wish they had a spa on the premises or at least a pool/hot tub area. Score 5 out of 5 Very comfortable. Charles, Durham/Raleigh, NC, 2005-05-19 The hotel accommodations were delightful. The room was very comfortable. The Dream Machine beside the bed was right on time. Score 5 out of 5 Review Lorri, Columbia, SC, 2005-03-27 No review provided by user |
