Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 good value Eugene, 2007-03-13 around the corner on St Louis is a great breakfast/brunch restaurant Petunias . Definitely a must on your stay in New orleansexcellent location, good rooms, friendly staff, not a typical hotel Score 4 out of 5 Very good Justin, 2007-03-11 This hotel is very close to Bourbon Street, which was very good for my group. The only problem was that I thought we were going to get balconies with our rooms, but that seemed to not be the case. We were pretty disappointed in that, but we had a very good time. Good hotel. Score 5 out of 5 Nice Little Hotel Robert, 2007-03-11 The National Park for the preservation of Jazz . . Don't miss the catheral in Jackson square,The ST.Marie in the French guarter of New Olleans is a very nice comfortable little hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room was just right. There was two queen size beds, a uphosteried foot bench at the end of each bed and a table with two chairs beside the door leading to the balcony. The balcony overlooked a neat little court yard. The room was vey quiet and well appointed. There was a seperate dressing room with a large shelf over the closet rod and a vanity counter with full mirror. The dressing room was connected to the bathroom by a louvered door. We were given plenty of really nice towels and wash clothes. The hotel is centrally located and is only about a block from Burbon street. We could walk to most every where and when we needed a cab we called United Cabs and found them to be Johnny on the spot, in fact I put there number into my cell phone just for that purpose. We ate at all the biggies,(Brennan's, Emril's, K-Pauls, Commander's Palace) and found a lot of the smaller places very nice. Some of the small places did not seem very nice but they were once you got passed the way they looked. Coop's Place and Frillilotes(spelling) were very good. Also the Chartres House just down from the Hotel served a very mean Roast Beef Po-Boy with gravy, excellent. We enjoyed the week. Good cigars from the Cigar factory, I very seldom smoke let alone cigars. The grave yard was outstanding and the poker at Harrah's was fun. We arrive by accident during the La. Derby and enjoyed that. We'll be back and most likely stay at the St. Marie if it is available. Score 4 out of 5 Great location! Anonymous, 2007-03-04 Make sure you have a drink at the Old Absinthe House!Great place for the money! There are standard rooms in the main building but if you want something more New Orleans authentic stay in the other building...there are beautiful rooms there with high ceilings! And make sure you request a room facing the inner courtyard. It gets rowdy and loud on the main street! And make sure you request a room facing the inner courtyard. We are not usual bar goers but the music in this small place is incredible. This trip was made just to here a group called Vavavoom. They play Wed. through Sun. starting at 10p.m. (husband discovered them while attending a meeting last year.)We were making a one night stop in New Orleans and looking for a good location to stay. We were very pleased with the St. Marie because it was in the center of the French Quarter. We were within easy walking distance to pretty much everything we wanted to see. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly! The entry and courtyard were very nice. The rooms were not large but more than adequate. The only negatives were the musty smell in the room and the sink looked like it should have been replaced 10 years ago. The bed was fair. Nothing to write home about. We would consider staying here again. Score 5 out of 5 Great value & location Michael, Seattle, WA, 2007-02-24 You are half a block off Bourbon Street and all the alcohol, madness and night life one could ask for.The location to Bourbon Street madness and local color is wonderful. I would stay here again, as with all trips, you get out of it what you put into it. Room was on the top floor, large and clean. Staff was good and restaurant options, bars, all close... Score 2 out of 5 My review of Hotel St. Marie DAWN, 2007-02-14 THE HOTEL RESTURANT IS WONDERFULWHEN WE FIRST ARRIVED IT WAS GREAT BUT WHEN WE WENT OUT FOR THE NIGHT AND CAME BACK IN FOR THE NIGHT OUR A/C WAS NOT WORKING AND THE WINDOWS WERE PAINTED SHUT WELL I HAD AN ASTHMA ATTACK HAD TO CALL THE PERAMEDIC'S, THEN OUR STAY WENT DOWN HILL BUT IF I COULD CHANGE ONE THING IT WOULD BE MAKE THE WINDOWS ACCESSIBLE AND WE'LL BE BACK Score 5 out of 5 I recommend it! Anonymous, 2007-02-14 Everything is nearby in walking distance.I definately recommend this hotel. I especially loved having a room with a balcony facing the interior courtyard. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. The breakfast wasn't as good as I had hoped though in the restaurant. The location is perfect in the French Quarter. Easy to walk to everything. |
